We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendra Visioli and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kendra, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
For me, a creative career was the perfect mix of structure and flexibility. I wanted to be able to work with families and a variety of people, but also wanted to be able to stay home to raise my kids. I liked the potential to play with my artistic craft, while also maintaining the structure and routine of a business. I had previously worked in education and youth ministry, so this career has enabled me to continue serving families, but with the freedom to explore my creative side and build my business around my family.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
One thing that is challenging in an artistic field is that you are constantly learning. New techniques, new gear, new locations, unique clients…every year there’s something to try and to learn from. While that can be difficult and sometimes means I look back wishing I had done a previous session differently, it’s also an aspect I love about this field. As long as you keep looking to grow, you’ll never get bored or stagnant in a creative field!

For me personally, I’m proud of the ways I’ve expanded my session types to be able to serve a wider range of clients. My business started with the primary focus of delivering great portraits that were accessibly priced for families. Since launching 10 years ago, I’ve been able to extend services for newborns, graduates, small businesses, and most recently boudoir clients. The variety keeps this job fun for me, and encourages me to keep growing!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My family really enjoys getting outdoors and enjoying the trails and views the front range has to offer. When friends come to visit, we love taking them on an easy hike. Some favorite spots are Mt Falcon, Lair o the Bear, Roxborough, NCAR, and Castlewood Canyon. Our neighborhood has lovely walking trails and an awesome coffee house, so most often you’ll find us enjoying the parks, trails, and Reunion Coffee House here! For grabbing drinks out, we love Danico Brewing near Green Valley Ranch, Flyte Co Tower in Central Park, or Ironton Distillery in RiNo. Our go-to dining spots in Larimer Square all closed during the big remodel process there, so we’re on the hunt for new favorite restaurants!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I couldn’t do this job without all the amazing clients and families who choose to support my business! Getting to work with a variety of families, small businesses, and unique individuals keeps me inspired and motivated.
