We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenny Blair and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kenny, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always wanted to be an artist, since I could remember, but I lacked the confidence when I was young. After traumatic events during 2013-2014, I felt like giving up and turned to alcohol and throwing house parties to feed that addiction. Lucky for me I meet “SeenLoc” an established artist who introduced me to the music/show/ and studio lifestyle.

Shortly after I quit drinking to fully commit to a life of music and travels in 2015.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Starting at the end of 2014, I didn’t know where or who I’d end up meeting. Albuquerque, NM is the first place I ever performed and it led to endless opportunities.

One of them being a headlining show with BrokeNCYDE’s own “PhatJ”
We became friends after the show and led to us working together on shows, a small tour run and music for a few years.

From 2015 on I hit the ground running,
Starting a locally successful group called “ColorBlind” with “Radio Rayy”
We rocked many big shows in Colorado springs including but not limited to;
KottonMouth Kings / Coolio / Crazy Town / Afroman / Cryptic Wisdom / Ces Cru / Whitney Peyton / Mac Lethal / Hed PE to name a few.

I also hosted an open mic during this time with “Macadoe” every Tuesday night at a place called “Royal Castle” over on Platte up the street from “The BlackSheep” quickly making it an event that would bring 50 to 100 plus people every week to check out new and upcoming artist.

These days I do a lot of tours as a solo artist, booking everything myself, from the venues to all the locals rocking each show in each city/state. I also do all the flyer work, ticket printing and shipment of tickets to all artist performing on each show.
It’s can be a lot but the fun of watching everything come together after tons of planning is so satisfying!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m all about mountain trips! I love showing my out of state friends my favorite spots and views! I’m not one to usually go out to eat at restaurants, and since I am sober and alcohol free, most social environment are hard to be in.
If I’m not performing or supporting a friend, chances are I won’t go out.
I’m a recluse by nature and have had to work on becoming “social” to chase this dream of being an artist!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So many people have helped me climb to new heights.

I am thankful to people like Seenloc, PhatJ, Macadoe, Radio Rayy, Vile and my music manager Eli “Nuke” Gibson for the beginning stages of my artistic journey.

I am also thankful to the ones who teach me new things as I continue to move forward as an artist and human being.
So shout out to BrokeNCYDE, KMC and MixedByBlitz.

Last but not least a big shout out to my parents, who taught me not only to work hard, but to pour back into those who have poured unto me.
