We had the good fortune of connecting with Kent Hart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kent, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from Leesville Louisiana. I didn’t grow up with much. Some nights I went to bed without dinner. Sometimes we had no lights. But my mother was a loving one. And that I feel is irreplaceable. Growing up like this always made me wonder is this all life has to offer? It can’t be I thought. As I watched people on youtube and tv live a luxurious life. So I decided I wanted to chase that. My first goal was to get away from where I was from. Since my brother lived in Colorado I decided that was a good start. Ever since I’ve been in Colorado it has opened my eyes to a new life. Showed me the good life is attainable. But also humbled me. Through all this I still didn’t know what route to take to become successful. That was until I bought a $200 camera. 2 years after that here I am.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I had to quickly learn to not drown myself in the success I see in others. I would find myself saying ” I wish I could be where he/she is “. ” I wish I had more followers “. But I realized that everyone that is successful in their craft worked to get to where they are. And all I can do is strive for the same. Photography is truly a passion of mine. I consider it one of my releases. Whether I’m shooting a model or a mountain that says nothing back to me. I love it all the same. I have a dark aesthetic style. I believe it gives more emotion and mood to photos. The only reason I got to where I am today is time and perseverance. If you’re willing to do something you like and not quite, you’ll succeed.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I love food! So I’d definitely take them to my favorite food spots. To name a couple there’s Skirted Heifer, Oka Ramen, Santana’s, Sushi O Sushi, and Kona Grill. There’s a super nice Boba Spot near Downtown Denver called Boba Touch. I call it Touched By Boba. Some nice places to see is Garden Of The Gods, Downtown Denver, and Gold Camp Rd. At Gold Camp Road you can see the entire Colorado Springs and at night it’s super beautiful.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Upon starting my photography journey my good friend Mia sat down with me and helped me lay the foundation of what my page is today. Which I’m truly grateful for. Another friend of mine Michael was the first to invite me out to Denver to attend a photography meet. And Dom the CEO of Denver Models who mentioned my name to you guys. Lastly a book that prepared me for the mental battle of being an entrepreneur was Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins.
