We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenzi Hatley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kenzi, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
As a hairstylist, I’ve always wanted to provide a relaxing, peaceful, yet different experience for my clients. With the beautiful views and sacred grounds of the property, I knew this was where Wildridge would be born. It’s why people come to Colorado, to get away, to explore. Wildridge is exactly that.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I have been in the hair industry for 15 years now, and have travelled and trained internationally.

I am a Mother, a Vegan, and an advocate to women worldwide. Volunteering in third world countries has opened my eyes to the devastation we, as humans, have caused to the planet- from pollution to animal extinction.

With the beauty industry evolving, I have been able to merge my personal ethics into my career. I can create a safer, cleaner environment for my clients and myself.

Here at Wildridge, I believe that we can achieve optimal results coloring and styling hair without harmful chemicals.. I use the color and product range “OWAY,” which includes bio-dynamic and organic ingredients. Supporting verified international fair trade networks. Never harming animals or the environment. I am proud to provide a refill station and product for my clients with 100% recyclable glass and aluminum.

As for our location, Wildridge sits on 35 acres of beautiful high desert terrain in Penrose, CO. We have stunning views of the San Isabel and Sangre De Christo mountain range. This isn’t your average hair salon. It’s truly an experience. Wildridge is for those who love non-toxic natural looking color, the outdoors and a little adventure.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d start at Anna’s Apothecary in Manitou Springs. Hit up the Burrowing Owl for vegan burritos and finish at Desert Reef hot springs in Florence. We’d hike and hangout on the ridge the rest of the time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give a shout out to my family first and foremost. My loving, supportive husband, Marc. My Mother who listens to all of my crazy ideas and my Sister who rides the waves with me and keeps things running smoothly.

I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to Liz Guerra of Studio Kanta in Colorado Springs. She’s been a true mentor and has helped me work through my biggest challenges.
