We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenzie Valladolid and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kenzie, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
There is not much why as much as I just do. Photography is my drive, what makes me tick, my meditation, my self-care… my passion and drive for photography has not only provided amazing opportunities for myself…it has allowed me to capture some of the most beautiful sights Earth and nature have created. It is hard to think of a “why” other than survival. Capturing life and nature’s best moments is like breathing for me – it is natural and I don’t question it, I just do.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
While in high school, I discovered my passion for photography through photographing live music. In order to get more opportunities for photographing concerts and live music, I decided to start my business, 91 Perks Photography. Since then, I have been fortunate enough to photograph many musicians on my photography bucket list as well as I have expanded my services to landscapes, family portraits, weddings, etc.

What helped me get from Day 1 to where I am today is consistency and passion. Being consistent about getting out and photographing has been the main contribution to my success. Furthermore, consistency in the sense of never giving up. I have achieved dreams and goals I never thought possible when I first started snapping photos. What helps me stay consistent is my passion, which is my drive. It is never easy to wake up at 2am to chase the Milky Way or a sunrise, a lot of the times I do not get the shot I am hopeful of…however, the fulfillment I get is never unappreciated.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend coming to Denver for the weekend, we would start the day by grabbing breakfast at The Lookin’ Good on Sheridan. Next, we would stop at Red Rocks Park for a fun hike at an iconic location. For the evening, since I am a basketball fan, I would take them to a Denver Nuggets game.

If I had the time to drive them to the town I live in, then it would be a weekend filled with sight-seeing, hiking or skiing (depending on the season) and grilled elk steaks for dinner.
