We had the good fortune of connecting with Kerri Sewolt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kerri, how do you think about risk?
I enjoy taking risks!

I either challenge my own capabilities and find pride in my success or I learn a valuable lesson.

Because of my attitude towards taking risks, it has led me on some pretty amazing life experiences that I would not have normally had such as becoming a snow sculptor and being asked to help create the largest snow fort for Keystone Resort’s “Kidtopia”.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I moved to Loveland, CO 20 years ago and began growing my roots in the art community. This was not an easy task being one of a handful of whimsical artists in a large population of landscape, oil painting artists.
I began as an acrylic painter who focused on happy monsters, skeletons and bugs, and over time, was accepted and then became a mentor for other artists like myself.

Over the years, I certainly evolved artistically.
My style is still recognizable in other mediums which is something I am really proud of for maintaining. Whether it’s acrylic paint, sidewalk pastels, snow & ice or found object sculptures, my work still translates in my happy and fun style.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I know it sounds corny, but I LOVE Loveland! I have lived here for 20 years, and have a hard time thinking about me ever leaving the Sweetheart City!
You can’t beat Loveland around Valentine’s Day and our Sweetheart Festival! Last year, I was asked to create a photograph station for the festival which was so much fun seeing thousands of people stand in front of your creation and post their selfies with my work on social media!

I always tell visitors to visit our downtown area on 4th Street! I have my work in the Independence Gallery on 4th St. and we have so many great galleries and shops!
I would recommend every eat at Henry’s or Doug’s Day Diner.

And you CANNOT MISS hanging out at The Flipside for their tasty drinks and pinball! The Flipside is my ALL TIME FAVORITE hangout!

Loveland is also home to an amazing collection of public art! Our Loveland Museum always has an incredible exhibit on display! And we are home of Benson Sculpture Garden and Chupungu Sculpture Garden. Our HeARTs are sprinkled throughout the city, all of which were created by local artists. We have our ever changing “sculpture on loan” program on 4th St. so it’s fun to see new sculptures by new artists come and go. But my favorites are the two ‘Locks of Love” sculptures where people can add their engraved locks to the sculptures. And Loveland’s mural game is strong, too! It’s hard NOT to be inspired by all the art and beauty Loveland has to offer.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my parents, Gary and Lynda Sewolt, for supporting and encouraging me to share my brand of joy with the world.

I would also like to thank my beloved, Keith Harrison, for his love, help and support when creating larger than life creations!

I would also like to thank ALL my followers and fans who have inspired me to continue on my grownup weird kid path in creating. This includes all my neighbors, Amazon drivers and neighborhood traffic who constantly tell me that I have “the best house on their route.” When some of my creations are too large for storage, many times they end up as front yard decor.
YAY for no HOAs!
Each time I see my work bring adults and children smiles, it warms my heart and feeds my desire to keep creating.
