Meet Kerry Sweeney | Jewelry Artist & Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kerry Sweeney and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kerry, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is that I have kept creating and evolving over the years as a small business. When I began my online business, I started by making handmade earrings out of a variety of crystals and stones. Over time, I started making necklaces, and then I learned how to make rings, and then bracelets, and so on. I began making every type of jewelry piece that came to mind. I created unique, one of a kind items that my customers genuinely loved. I would spend multiple hours each day “free styling” new items. Items that were top sellers, I continued to make, and even made similar items in different colors and styles. All of this, factors into the consistency of creating and continuing to expand my products.
One of the most important parts of being a small business, specifically online, is to not get too comfortable. I find that creating brand new designs that have a sense of originality has made my shop desirable to purchase from. Along with this, being kind and patient to all of your potential buyers and customers, is such an important factor to being being a successful and respectable business. I would not be where I am today without those who support me!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I create unique, one of a kind, handmade jewelry. These jewelry pieces are often created with genuine crystals and stones. Using semiprecious gemstones and crystals in my jewelry is one of my niches. I find they are beautiful to wear, and have beneficial healing properties for the wearer.
My creations are creative and unique. I handmake earrings, rings, bracelets and necklaces from multiple materials that come together into a beautiful jewelry piece. My absolute favorite item to make are wire wrapped rings.
What began as a fun hobby became a passion that allowed me to work from home, make my own schedule, and create. I can not explain how grateful I am for that.
Although what I do is easy, it definitely was not easy to get where I am. I have worked hard and dedicated an incredible amount of time establishing my shop, creating, and photographing my products. But what is easy is doing something I love to do.
My biggest takeaway from running this business is to always be kind, patient, understanding, and honest with both myself and with my customers. Running an online business is a 24/7 job and I am a one woman show. I strive to be communicative with my buyers and get their orders shipped to them within 1-2 days, which means I am constantly at work. Patience and kindness goes a long way in this process.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I currently reside in Plymouth, Massachusetts. I would absolutely recommend a day in downtown Plymouth, where the “Plymouth Rock” is. There is also a huge variety of restaurants and shops to visit in downtown Plymouth.
One of my favorite places to visit is the Cape Cod Canal by the Sagamore Bridge. I would recommend a visit here at sunset, as the sun sets right over the water, as it is beautiful.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have a few people that I can thank for helping me to get where I am today. First, I would have to thank social media as a whole, as I was inspired to see so many amazing creators (of all kinds) on all platforms who achieved amazing success creating beautiful art, jewelry, and more.
To be able to create a business by being inspired by others success was something I never expected.
I would also like to shoutout my dad for planting the seed in my head, that the online world is a large part of the future and to do what I can to be my own boss. That is exactly what I did.
