We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Seyboldt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kimberly, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always loved the idea of taking a passion and running with it. That played a part in my decision to start my own businesses. I also wanted to set an example to my kids that you are capable of achieving your goals even through the midst of trials and hard things. I am a school teacher by trade. Teaching is in my blood and I love it! I initially opened my own music studio for children and started teaching a music program called “Let’s Play Music” so I could stay home and raise my own kids. I have been running a successful studio since 2006.
In 2016, I went through a divorce and needed to return to the classroom full time. While doing so I also knew that being a school teacher wasn’t going to provide enough income for me and my 4 children. After a couple years of looking and researching, I started my online store and coaching business to help others monetize their social media. I was looking for something that matched my core values and would add to my life and not take away from the time with my kids. If I was going to invest my time into building a business I wanted it to be a scalable asset that would benefit my family long term. I found what I was looking for and ran with it!
I’m so thankful to be able to continue teaching in multiple capacities. I love teaching music to children. And I also love being able to teach business to those who decide to join me and choose me to mentor them in starting their own businesses!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started out my career in education right out of college. I taught in a couple school districts before I had kids of my own and decided to stay home to raise them. However, the desire for teaching was still in me. That is when I opened my music studio for kids and started teaching Let’s Play Music. I had a thriving studio and loved every minute of teaching! The relationships I was able to build with those kids and families was so incredible! Fast forward to 2016 and I returned to teaching in the classroom full time again. I was still running my music studio as well but just cut back on the number of classes I offered.
I am a passionate entrepreneur and believe big in having multiple streams of income! Therefore, I opened my online store in 2020 and it has been the greatest blessing! I get to teach my customers and educate them on clean living products – and I love that! I am also a mentor and coach to others who are looking to monetize their social media and incorporate affiliate links as an additional way to make money. Coaching causes positive change in others. Seeing other’s lives impacted for good; seeing others make money for their families without sacrificing their priorities; seeing others surrounded by a positive and uplifting community is more fulfilling to me than anything! I love teaching ways to uplevel your life!
No one cares how much you know until they know how much they care. I love that saying because it is so true in any realm of teaching/education. I thrive on building relationships with others. My ability and drive to cultivate these relationships is something that sets me apart from others.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in Northern Colorado is just delightful! There is so much to see and do. If I had a friend in town I would definitely take them to the mountains for a hike and to enjoy all that the outdoors have to offer. If we are going for a quick hike we would go to Horsetooth. The falls are absolutely gorgeous! The next day we would go spend the day in Estes Park. Driving and hiking through Rocky Mountain National Park is something everyone should do. Moving on to the next day, we would go to a dinner theater show at the Candlelight dinner theater. There is a lot of talent here for us to enjoy. Spending a day walking the shops in old town Fort Collins would definitely be on the agenda as well! With a food stop at The Corner Slice! They have the most delicious pizza (including gluten free) around! Last but not least, visiting Windsor to get that small town vibe would make the cut. First we would walk around scenic Windsor Lake. Then we would stroll down Main St and shop the locally owned shops. Stopping off for food at Hearth or The Mill which has multiple choices of places to eat and drink. After talking through all of this it sounds to me like I need to do some inviting and get some friends to town!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family has been instrumental in my success. They were there for me every step of the way as I was going through my divorce. It was an extremely hard time for me. They continued to stand by my side. I could’ve crumbled and quit moving forward. They would always encourage me to keep my head up and know that brighter days were ahead. Instead of being stunted I worked on myself. I grew as a person. I did so much self development. I wanted to be a bigger and better person. I am so blessed to have my family supporting me. When I started my business and opened my online store they were my first customers! “Kim, what do we need to order?” “Kim, come help me set up my account.”
My kids have supported me and encouraged me as well. When I earned a trip to Mexico for the sales of my online store they were so stoked for me! They continuously ask me how business is going. They will sometimes join me in videos. When they take a product that helps them they will say, “Take a picture and tell your customers!” I love that they are invested in the business with me! It is a family affair!
