We had the good fortune of connecting with Immigrants Child and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Immigrants, why did you pursue a creative career?
Due to our upbringing so much of our life has been spent trying to secure a stable future for ourselves. It wasn’t till we fully became comfortable with ourselves that we realized we could explore the emotions and experiences we had lived through. Immigrant households hold family in high regards. At times that means putting aside your Interests and passions to live up to expectations. We’ve come to a point where we value ourselves just as much as our family and have decided to honor both through our art.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Our bands foundation is based around ourselves as immigrants and the children of immigrants. Whether we intend to or not that identity comes to the forefront of our art. It was not easy to get to the point we’re we felt comfortable performing and sharing music with the community. Our insecurities at times made us doubt our progress and path. Our practices would run for hours perfecting and toning our sound to the point where we felt confident enough in ourselves and one another to be in front of an audience. We are proud of our identity and we appreciate the connection people might have to our music.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If our friend was visiting we would definitely recommend The restaurant Domo for food. The Santa Fe district is a must to simply visit and stop by some galleries. Boulder is a hub for hiking and the view from Flagstaff is great for a wide spanning view of the western foothills area. Lastly we’d recommend visiting colfax for the amount of culture, venues, and restaurants that it holds on both the west side and east side.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We’d like to thank our families for the unconditional love and support they have for us. To Salt Lick Records, CameraJams, and Colorado Sound Studios for all being avenues with which we could present our art the world. Lastly to the Colorado music community for the love and support that everyone offers one another.
