Meet Kimberly Valere | Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Valere and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kimberly, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I first decided to start my own business it was due to me wanting products that I could trust for my family and share with others. I became increasingly aware of the harmful chemicals and synthetic ingredients commonly found in many skincare products on the market and I wanted to do better for my family. I began to focus on creating products with natural, clean ingredients.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is not a traditional business in the sense of a brick-and-mortar store. We sell online as well as craft shows, etc. I sell skincare products such as cold process soaps, body butters, beard oils/balms, hair oils, bath teas, shower steamers as well as body oil. I think what sets me apart from others is first and foremost that as a Christian I am very conscious of how I run my business. I am always trying to improve myself, making sure that I am being transparent, and trying to be better. I am very conscious of where I purchase my ingredients by making sure that they are ethically sourced and of a high quality.
I am most proud of the community that is being built around the brand. Being a fairly new business, its truly rewarding to have customers who trust in your products and recommend them to others. It’s been a process and there is still a long way to go, but I believe one of the main reasons for my business growing is due to word of mouth. It has truly played a significant role in my business. When customers love a product they are willing to tell others and that has been a blessing for my business. This has been a great for my business as it has brought me new and repeat customers.
Some lessons that I have learned along the way is to not feel as if I have to compete with similar business. It’s very easy to feel that you have to compete with others in order to stay relevant. There are fads that come and go and this is true with skincare products. There are products that will always be relevant and some will fade away. At times, I felt overwhelmed by the competitive nature of the industry. However, I have learned to focus more on my brand while building a good customer base. By focusing on my brand I can ensure that I am creating products of a higher quality.
Another significant challenge for me has been social media. It am not big into social media at all, but my oldest daughter has challenged me to focus on promoting my business via social media to get the word out there more about my products. So, come 2025 I will be working on doing just that.
ShaDey’s Creations, LLC. is a home-based, veteran owned business that was launched in 2019, the name is a combination of both of my daughters middle names. I hope that you will give us a try at shadeyscreations.myshopify.com

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my amazing husband Sheldon and two daughters Ciara and EleSha whose unwavering support and encouragement have been instrumental in my journey to start my business. Without them, I wouldn’t be able to do what I do. I also have a wonderful customer base who have supported me from the very beginning.
