We had the good fortune of connecting with Kodi Imondi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kodi, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factors behind our success at Imondi Wake Zone are three things – perseverance, authenticity and discipline. During the start-up and expansion phases of Imondi Wake Zone, we have had to push through many challenges, “no’s” and nay-sayers. It is staying true to our “why” and forging ahead with authenticity, that we are able to stay disciplined in getting from vision board to reality, as the best version of our brand.
What should our readers know about your business?
Imondi Wake Zone, located in Western Colorado, is the Rocky Mountain region’s premiere water sports adventure park. At Imondi, you will find activities for the whole family. From cable-towed wakeboarding, waterskiing, and kneeboarding, water sports lessons, an expanded inflatable aqua park, stand-up paddle boarding and more.
The state-of-the-art cable system and overall welcoming and inclusive environment is what sets Imondi apart. The cable system is powered by a small electric motor. This allows people to access towed water sports without the need of a boat. The full-size cable system (FSC) can tow up to 7 riders at a time. Imondi also has a beginner cable system that tows one rider at a time and is used for lessons. Imondi has taught around 3,000 lessons since their opening in 2018. From lessons to competition, Imondi services all skill levels. In 2021 Imondi Wake Zone sent a team of 14 riders to the Wake Park Nationals, with four riders coming home with a Top 5 finish. Imondi also sent a rider to the 2021 Wake Park World Championships, where they won their division and brought home the World Championship trophy to Colorado! Imondi is incredibly proud of the community they have created and cultivated.
Upon visiting Imondi Wake Zone you will be welcomed with open arms and encouraged to keep progressing, regardless of your skill level or experience. Imondi Wake Zone strives to motivate, inspire and challenge water sports enthusiasts, from beginner to pro. Water sports not your thing? That’s ok too! Come enjoy the lakeside views of the Colorado National Monument, take a walk or bike on the connected Colorado Riverfront Trail or simply enjoy the lakeside amenities and watch the action on the water as you relax in the ambience of Western Colorado.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A week in Western Colorado! Let’s start the morning with a deliciously crafted coffee from Bestslope Coffee Company and an Acai fruit bowl from local food truck, Mountain Berry Bowls or maybe a heartier breakfast at Cattlemen’s Bar & Grill. We have a week so let’s do them all! Then we’d head to the trails, a beautiful hike at Rattlesnake Arches or a mountain bike ride at Kokopelli in Loma.
In the afternoon, let’s cool off at Imondi Wake Zone – where we can SUP, wakeboard, partake in frozen margaritas or cold beer and wine and enjoy the lakeside views of the Colorado National Monument. In the evening, if it’s Monday night – we’ll head over to Copper Club Brewery for Trivia Night, good food and great drinks! Any other night, we’ll likely hit up local hot spot Munchies or grab some Mexican flavor at our family favorite, El Tapatio.
Throughout the days we can head up to the Grand Mesa and visit Island Lake and Mesa Lodge or if we’re looking for more adventure we can downhill mountain bike at Powderhorn Resort! We can visit the Dinosaur Museum in Fruita and even hike the paleontology trails, like Dinosaur Hill where they excavated 2/3’s of a Brontosaurus in 1901!
With so much to do here in Western Colorado, we will need more than a week! 😉
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The story of Imondi Wake Zone begins all because two people fell in love – with wakeboarding & each other. Victor and Kodi Imondi, now married for 9 years, came together in 2012 to learn that they both shared the vision of a cable wakeboarding park in Colorado and the passion of introducing everyone they cross paths with, to the joy of towed water sports. If you ever have the privilege of meeting Mr. & Mrs. Imondi, you will quickly find yourself immersed in conversation about cable towed water sports and the benefits it brings to communities around the globe.
