Meet Kristen Kahl | Picnic Planner & Events Coordinator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristen Kahl and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kristen, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
I have always loved working in the industry and getting to know people from all over the world. It makes me happy to serve people and bring people a unique experience with creativity.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started out here in Summit County as a wine specialist for Carboy Winery, shortly after to take on the tasting room manager roll. I am so thankful for the experience and all I was able to learn while in that position. I am a natural events coordinator – I love bringing ideas to fruition – That takes me to where I decided to start my own business Pura Vida Picnic Co. I find joy in brining people the unique experience in the beautiful rocky mountains, by Lake Dillon is one of my favorite places to set up! Since our picnic’s are seasonal, I specialize in catering for large party’s in the winter! Starting this business has not been an easy journey.. there is a lot to learn about all of the in’s and out’s of general business running that have come as a surprise. I’ve leaned on my business partners and mentors to help me navigate the opening of Pura Vida Picnic Co.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love hosting my friends and family! If I was creating an ideal itinerary for my friends, I would recommend; – paddle boarding on lake dillon
– driving on swan mountain road, taking a pit stop at sapphire point to check out the views
– some of my favorite places to eat in Breckenridge are; Aurum food & wine, Rootstalk, Blue River Bistro, and Carboy Winery.
– Isaac Heartstone is a large recycled troll, one of a kind and is a must see.
– Hike the easy, beautiful trail of Lilly pad lake
– Ski/snowboard at Breckenridge or Keystone resorts
– hike mohawk lakes
– walk main street and shop your heart out

I would like to give a shoutout to Craig Jones – The owner of Carboy Winery. He has always been supportive of any journey that I’ve decided to take. All while still being the best boss and mentor I’ve ever had. I’m so lucky to know him!
