We had the good fortune of connecting with Krystle & Harrison Richardson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Krystle & Harrison, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
[Krystle] My life had quite the chaotic start. I endured many things young children should never have to face. My first core memory is a mere one year old me standing up on a cold medical bed to step into a padded diaper. I was bitten by a brown recluse, the bite left untreated for ten days. My family was torn apart and placed into various orphanages due to the related neglect. We then went on to actually become orphaned; all before reaching puberty. Once life seemed to reach a point of smooth sailing, I stuck with the tried and true. Comfort and stability were more important to me than pursuing my passion for nearly two decades. As time went on, the pull to become my truest self became stronger. I knew walking away from a career with such long tenure would be like freefalling without a parachute. Thankfully my husband, Harrison, gave me the push I needed to take that dive. We have faced countless difficulties since our launch on October 1, 2022. Most notably, our laser cutting/engraving machine catching fire the first month of being in business, and our silent partner dropping out shortly there after. We see these struggles as fuel added to the fire we call success. We are determined to continue to take risks and see these difficulties as learning opportunities. We will continue to grow our business with the mindset that nothing will stop us from building the life we dream, knowing that risk is a necessity and tenacity will always prevail.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Om·nip·o·tent / (ämˈnipədənt) / adjective 1. having unlimited power; able to do anything
Our goal at The Omnipotent Workshop is to provide infinite creative solutions. The idea is that our customers will bring their desires to us, and we will execute the project to surpass their expectations. We are currently in Phase 1, which offers paintings using various mediums/canvases, and laser cutting/engraving services. Subsequent phases will include various forms of 3D printing, custom attire, and more. Every project we put out is produced with our unique creative touch, catered to our client’s desires. We are ecstatic about working with people from all walks of life and creating things that spark joy in their world. I [Krystle] am a RAW Natural Born Artist. I have been creating for the majority of my life. Throughout this journey, I haven’t been able to choose one particular form of art over the rest, so I ultimately decided to continue creating all the things! While most artistic capabilities have come fairly easy to me, this journey has come with its own set of frustrations, trials/tribulations, failures, etc., but has by far been the most rewarding journey of my life (outside of motherhood, of course!). The biggest lesson we have learned along the way is to be like water – just go with the flow and gently carve our print on the world. We want everyone to know that even if we have yet to create something you envision, we can and we will. Let’s talk about it!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Colorado Springs is the perfect destination for recharging! Spending time in nature allows one’s self to find balance and re-center. We have ample hiking trails, parks, and outdoor activities nearby. Our favorites include Garden of the Gods, Red Rock Canyon, and Rocky Mountain National Park. We are also big on visiting historic sites and locations; we love learning about our surroundings and the story behind them. A few of our favorites are The Stanley Hotel, The National Museum of World War II Aviation, The Glen Eyrie Castle, and the famous Pike’s Peak.
Amy’s Donuts is a must stop while in town. Our favorite breakfast spot is The Urban Egg. The food is uniquely flavorful, and the dining experience is a relaxing way to start a beautiful day. We also highly recommend visiting Fargo’s Pizza for a memorable family dinner experience.
There are several local breweries in town that we highly recommend. Some of our favorites are Mash Mechanix, Storybook, and Drekar Meadery.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, we would like to send a shoutout to our teenage son, Aiden. He reminds us to focus on “the what”, rather than “the when”, “the why”, or “the how”. He reminds us to be present each day, while being mindful of the future. In his spare time, he willingly spends several hours a day hanging out with his little brothers to allow us to focus on building our business. If it wasn’t for Aiden, we would certainly not be where we are today. He is incredibly calm and sensible for a teenager, is full of great advice, maintains good grades, and is everyone’s biggest hype man, all the while pursuing his own dream of becoming a music producer. Knowing he is watching also reminds us to keep it pushin’.
[Krystle] I would also like to send a huge shoutout to Harrison for believing in our vision and working like a mad man during our start up chapter to fund our dream. This man works roughly 100 hours a week and sacrifices so much every day to ensure our family is cared for and our saga may continue.
