Meet Kylie Rosine | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kylie Rosine and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kylie, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I decided to start my business in photography because creative arts were always the one area in my life that I felt I excelled and enjoyed entirely. My freshman year of high school I started taking my parents old camera out with one of my little sisters (who is my most prominent model and supporter) and friends and fell in love with trying to capture moments and taking photos that really make you feel. The creativity of photography is what made me fall in love with it but also with seeing my subjects eyes light up when they feel genuinely good about themselves from one of the photos I had taken. I fell in love with making people happy by capturing moments and boosting their self esteem. I continued to practice my photography as much as I could through high school and my year and a half of college. I attended college and had taken biomedical engineering classes but nothing made me happier than photography. By my 4th semester in college I dropped out to start my business full time, which was a big risk but it has been so rewarding. I decided that I had to choose a career in something I was passionate in and really loved rather than just settling for a path that wouldn’t fulfill me in the ways photography does.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Creative arts like painting and photography were always a huge part in my life and something I was always confident in my skills with. I always felt like I had a proficient creative eye, and always had visions and Ideas running through my head for photos and post processing the photos I took. Photography was my later learned skill and I really started to practice my skills my freshman year of high school. In the beginning I had so many ideas but it took years of practice to finally see my visions start to translate to my product and that was the biggest challenge I faced that could only be fixed with practice. I found myself taking my parents old camera out every chance I could get and taking any models I could from 2017-2021 when in 2021 I had finally saved enough money to afford a newer camera. When I finally was able to make the big purchase is when I was finally confident enough to start my business. I finally had a camera that I could focus on getting my visions and ideas to translate to my product instead of focusing on my settings. Even still I waited another year of practicing and building my portfolio until I was comfortable enough to charge for my photos and taking strangers as clients. After I felt confident enough to kickstart my business it still took another year of hard work, marketing, and free shooting to finally get a better flow of clients. Those areas are still one of my biggest areas of struggle and I continue to work toward. I am practicing every day and you can always work to improve, but I feel like I am finally beginning to see the rewards of hard work. investment, and practice.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My idea of a good time would definitely be a lake day at either flaming gorge in wyoming or Elkhead resevoir in Craig, CO I would want to do some tubing or wakeboarding or even just hanging out by the cliffs on flaming gorge. Fishing has always been one of my favorite past times so if a lake is on the list that’s a must-do. Ice cream is always required after, frozen yogurt or a wendy’s frostie and fries!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give my shoutout to my little sister Lauren who inspired it all. My first model and has been my biggest supporter. She is always up for any crazy shoot idea and is my absolute best friend.
