We had the good fortune of connecting with Lane Bickett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lane, what role has risk played in your life or career?
The way I think about risk is the opportunity for change. It is to go towards the unknown with a positive attitude and looking for the best to come out of it. Taking risks has been a big part of the beginning half of my twenties. I have found that taking risks has helped me get out of my comfort zone and to let in change and real growth. Some of my most memorable moments have been by taking risks. Moving to a new city which has opened so many doors for my own personal growth and career. Going to that party that a friend of a friend invited you to, have met some of my best friends this way. Going to a concert alone, allowed me to get out of my comfort zone and learn more about myself and others through the process. Growth and change is one of the only constants in this life and it allows you to discover yourself more deeply.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Lane Bickett and I am a queer Photographer who focuses on music and concert photography. I work with musical artists to create photos from their concerts or for promotion work. I love working with other creatives to bring their sound and vision to life in the form of photos. I love capturing raw energy, fast moments, emotional moments, and bringing everyone together in love, I grew up in the South my whole life, so I did not see many photographers were I grew up, let alone another queer photographer. I am most proud of the way I dived right into what I was passionate about, which is music and photography. I combined the two and now I am living one of my dreams. I am excited for all that I accomplished in 2024. My art was featured in two art galleries, I photographed 68 artists (3 of them being Grammy Nominated Artists), made so many connections and friends in the community, did my first studio shoot, and have worked with several local bands. The most challenging part about being a creative is maintaining two jobs. I have learned that if you take risks to always follow your heart and passions, then you will always be where you are suppose to be and the universe will conspire to help you achieve your goals. Something I want the world to know about my brand is that I want to create from a place of love, connection, community, from my lens. I love to a tell a story through my work that connects with others and makes them feel the emotion and energy.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my friend to see a live show at any of the lovely venues in town or catch a show at RedRocks. I would take them to River North Arts District to check out all the stores and restaurants. Make a trip to Boulder to see Chautauqua Park and go into the Rockies. I love to spend time in outdoors space, where we can be present and slow down.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a huge shoutout to all of my friends I have connected and met over the past four years. Being an only child, I have always found huge support, love, and encouragement from my friends. I value the connections and experiences I have made with others on my personal journey. I would also like to shoutout all the photographers I gain inspiration from who I am so grateful to call my friends. They include Anjali Shenoy, Melissa Chilson, Amanda Florence, and Hailey Burris. These four creatives are constantly creating and cultivating such unique photos because of their passion and love for people, music, and art. I would also like to give thanks to my great grandmother Nanie, who constantly reminded me to chase my dreams and to pursue my passions.
