We had the good fortune of connecting with Lani Gordon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lani, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Focus Reentry supports people that many in our country and community ignore or forget. We work with people in their transition out of jail who have limited resources and the odds stacked against them to come out to a common life. A criminal record makes it difficult to find work and housing. Low income populations often loose everything they have while in jail awaiting court dates because they could not meet their bond. Because there are only limited affordable services for mental health and addiction recovery, many people with these conditions end up in jail instead of another environment which could better treat their condition. Focus connects these clients with resources, community, medication, health support, mentorship, benefits, housing resources, and identification. During the time of this pandemic we have also given all of our clients phones as well as helped many clients apply for their stimulus check. Through this work we do our best to give clients everything we can to help them have a better chance of turning their life around, and ending a cycle of recidivism.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Boulder Circus Center for fun classes and community, Foothills community park to watch the paragliders, the flatirons to watch the sunset/sunrise.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Molly, Jane, Kristin and Nick and the rest of the Focus Reentry Team, this wouldn’t be possible without you!
