We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Olinger and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laura, how does your business help the community?
The work I do is primarily with women who have become “stuck” and can’t find their way out of the situation they’re stuck in. Being stuck is typically a result of no longer experiencing a sense of choice. We teach simple tools to de-stress the multi-faceted timelines impacting their lives until they ultimately return to their authentic experience of choice and can then move forward.
Similar to life coaching – except we use a digital, numeric, geometric language that speaks directly to the energy fields and makes corrections to them instead of verbally processing to a better cognitive understanding. We work on the energy fields, or the subconscious mind, correcting the often subtle influences that make a significant difference by shifting the person’s life off-course.
In my public speaking business I make this work available to collegians and young professional women. We work on stress, anxiety and inability to meet expectations in academics and work. We work on the influences that have made clarity difficult.
In my fitness and wellness programs for women over 50 we typically work on failed relationships, physical strength and stamina, self-value and having the right to speak up for themselves.
We have an emerging audience showing up with teachers, service providers, parents of and individuals in learning disability communities.
Ultimately we are supporting women who want to move forward in taking action consistent with their goals, speaking up for themselves and shifting the narrative in their families and communities. We are focused on bringing balance between feminine and masculine perspectives to decision-making in families and communities.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
With a 13 year career in senior fitness and wellness, I have stepped into a new iteration which is public speaking to collegians and young professionals teaching the GEMS of Excellence tools that have been vital to my success in the fitness and wellness space, and have been key to my greatest accomplishments as a parent, wife, business owner and adventurer.
Having studied this work for over 20 years, I committed to becoming a Certified GEMS of Excellence Instructor in 2019. That process took another 3 years to complete including the transition to teaching via Zoom when the pandemic intervened. The endpoint was clear – to become a Certified Instructor. The path is only defined by elements of doing the work, teaching, and gaining some version of “enough” and success. There is no script nor clear path. It is a personal development process of trial and error defined by your own personal barriers, issues, life, stumbles, beliefs, fortitude…the list is long.
As I try to answer this question I realize that the challenges were significant, hard, ridiculous, daunting as I faced them, and the only way I have been successful is through daily us of the tools I teach. Ultimately, although not as a prescription from the tools nor practices, the tools have led me to greater faith in God…but I don’t teach religion. We do peel away the layers life has incorrectly added to us, that are zapping our energy, focus, faith and clarity.
Once the layers are sufficiently cleared away, life takes on a whole new perspective in which authentic CHOICE is available – to take on the strength program, to hike the Trek, to accept the promotion and excel at it, to voice your truth in a conflict, to strike out in a new direction, to make a request that is bigger than you ever imagined.
The most difficult piece of this business is articulating what people will get from participating in the programs we teach. There are as many potential results as there are individuals in the Courses, or people on the planet. The participants bring their commitments, dreams, hopes and limitations, we do the work of teaching them the tools to live without the limitations. THEN they can fulfill on their dreams with clarity, faith and choice.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Coffee and hang out – At Beleza, Ozo, Verb and January Coffee in Boulder. Great coffee, interesting “other drinks” and good fun people at all of them.
Any meal – Chautauquah Dining Hall outside on the porch. Really great if there is a concert going on. And – catch a concert!
A concert at Red Rocks Ampitheatre.
Hiking in RMNP, a drive across Trail Ridge Road. Or, some more local trails that are less crowded, maybe out of Chautauquah, or out of Eldorado Canyon.
Depending on where they’re from a drive to Ned and then an easier hike around Caribou Ranch may be in order.
Walk/shop Pearl Street Mall, with drinks on the rooftop patio at Corrida, especially if you like gin & tonic.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Many thanks to my teaching partner, Dr. Jan Wright, who has guided and supported me through the process of becoming a Certified GEMS of Excellence Instructor with her infinite wisdom, depth of knowledge of this work and perpetual humor. I look forward to every conversation, course, and class we teach together.
