We had the good fortune of connecting with LaTisha Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaTisha, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson(s) my business has taught me is investing in yourself will be always be the best money well spent. You’re going to take some loses, it’s apart of the journey. Your loses are lessons that will help you win!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work. What you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?

I love meal prepping! I providing amazing, flavorful, healthy foods for my clients and I love making their lives easier. What I’m most proud of, is building from the ground up. Taking little and carefully watering it as it grows.

I’m super excited about Where the Lord is taking me and my business.

Where I am today, is only because of Jesus. My entire journey has been a faith walk. The culinary field is an overstaturated market & sometimes it can be hard to find your vain and flow in it. For me, I’m finding my vain, what works for me and I’m happy there. It’s not easy at, sometimes doubt wants to be so much louder than my faith; I’ve learned how to take a set back, breath, appreciate where I am and refocus on where I’m going that’s how I overcome.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way are, the right clients will change your life (for the better) and shift your entire perspective. Like me, many of clients are tools that help increase my skill set and I’m appreciative of every single one of them.

To the world, Mama Darlene’s Kitchen, was created out of love and I have no plans on stopping until I’ve fed the world lol! No seriously, Mama Darlene’s Kitchen, started as my restaurant concept for my Culinary School Capstone Project, I had no clue it would become a real life passion. To the college student, that assignment just may hold the keys to your purpose and passion.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friends was visiting the area, they are eating at my diningroom table. I throw the best dinner parties lol

Chicago is a huge city and they’re are so many places to go and see, I’d say start with the Museums and work your way around.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

To my Mommy, thank you for teaching me your gift. I wouldn’t know and love culinary if it wasn’t for you.

To my big brother & graphic designer, thank you for pushing me inside the doors of my Culinary School. Thank you for helping me see my passion and gift. There’s so much more I’d like to say but I’ll stop there. I love you. My Ash, I love you
