We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Palmer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After years of working tons of hours, multiple jobs at the same time and really wearing my body down, I decided it was time to get specific on the things I wanted. I craved work life balance, and time to start pursuing my other passions- one being education. I decided to make the jump into my own business. Designing my schedule to work with my life, doing the work I loved and leaving time for life balance.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a stylist and an educator, I love empowering others. In education I focus on the why behind everything, this way stylists fully understand what they are doing. I believe it puts more freedom to create in the hands of the stylist if they fully understand something rather then just learning a placement. In my courses I show the basics for foundation and how to customize for each client from there.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a total mountain lover so we would definitely be spending most of the time exploring up there and checking out some mountain towns. Of course we can’t forget a red rocks show too!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have been so fortunate to have learned from so many amazing educators who have openly shared their knowledge. Without this I can definitely say I would not be where I am today. Through my continuing education, I became a color specialist which has helped me to connect with so many amazing people in the industry. One of them being Nina @passionsquared, a business coach for beauty professionals. Nina has helped me both in my business and personal life more then I’ll ever be able to express. I’ve learned so much and created the business that I always wanted, but it’s also been so healing and helpful in so many other areas of life. I’m forever grateful to have found Nina and for the continued support.
