We had the good fortune of connecting with Laurel Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laurel, is there any conventional business advice that you disagree with?
Honestly, most of it! Most business advice has us start from a desired endpoint and work backwards, but life doesn’t work like that. Nature doesn’t work like that. Nature unfolds from the inside out, it doesn’t say, “Ok, in quarter 2 we’re gonna need an earthquake over here so we can reach our 4th quarter goals.” The earthquake just happens when it happens. It happens when it’s ready. That’s not to say that we should just sit back passively and wait for things to happen to us– we have to be active participants in the creation, while being flexible and open to the possibilities that life is showing us. It’s important to remember that our personal goals are usually created from a very limited perspective, so we might only see a tiny fraction of our infinite potential, and then box ourselves into that smaller life. (Or smaller business!) Yes, nature is wildly unpredictable, but nature is also wildly abundant and self-sustaining; and it’s possible to build a business that is also wildly abundant and self-sustaining. This way of doing life and business may feel unstable and scary at first, but if the last few years have shown us anything, it’s that “stability” is an illusion. Control is an illusion. Letting go of our illusory grip on control is where real freedom and power are found.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m an intuitive guide based in Southwest England, with roots in Montana and Georgia. “Intuitive Guide” is a pretty nebulous title, but what I “do” is pretty nebulous, so here we are. My work is based on a foundation of Human Design and Gene Keys, plus shadow work, somatic release, reiki, and inner pathworking as necessary. My goal with clients isn’t to pile on more modalities, but to strip away everything that isn’t aligned with their Soul. I have a gift for spotting patterns, and in sessions we decode those conditioned templates and re-code them from a place of grounded Truth. It’s slow, subtle, and deep, and it lasts. I found this path after creating a successful jewelry business that slowly became a prison. It looked great from the outside, with celebrity fans and magazine covers, but I was miserable even tho I was “doing what I love.” I had created an egoic shell of a business, building it up based on external validation rather than internal truth. This 2nd business is the evolving result of vowing to do it differently this time.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
