We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Klayton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
There’s a lot of environmental psychology that goes into creating a space that serves you instead of you serving your space. We have to unpack a lot more than simply items when it comes to curating spaces. We also meet people where they are at in their mess, with no judgment. That might look like helping an overwhelmed single parent create systems to manage a houshold, helping a client dig out of or manage depression, helping a neuro-spicy with the executive function of organization, or even working alongside a client grieving the loss of a loved one. For us professional organization is so much more than simply creating a pretty closet or an organized garage.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My childhood and upbringing certainly set the stage for my business. I grew up in a densely cluttered household. My mom was an antique collector who also had limited control over the parts of the brain that control anxiety. That, paired with my own ADHD and sensory processing disorders, created an environment in which I needed to learn to cultivate a space for myself to thrive. Throughout my life, I researched, learned, and tested to create systems and spaces that work for me.

One week in 2019, I had four separate friends, who didn’t know each other at all, tell me I should be a professional organizer. I took that as a sign from the universe and started Clarity for Your Chaos. In March of 2020, I quit my job to focus fully on my company and my kids. Then COVID happened -yikes! Needless to say, I was nervous, but it turns out the community needed my support more than ever. As families learned how to work, homeschool, and survive in one home, we were there to guide them in the transition. My business continued to grow as did my gratitude for being able to serve.

Serving our community is a huge part of our brand. Not only do I love being able to see the joy on our client’s faces as their homes and spaces are transformed, but we also partner with many non-profits throughout the region. It is a goal of ours to reduce waste as often as possible so we frequently upcycle goods for our clients. In addition, we have a 20′ long enclosed trailer that allows us to donate items our clients no longer need to the non-profits in the area. We call it “Robinhooding with consent.”

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way is that it takes a tribe and my business wouldn’t be here without mine! I’m a huge believer in building a network throughout my community. I love partnering with other small businesses so we can all help each other grow. I’ve learned so much from other rockstars in our community who want to see our city thrive!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In my free time, you generally find me taking care of my plants. If my friends were visiting, we would visit the Botanical Gardens, Butterfly Pavilion, and then grab food at Bang Up to the Elephant!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This year has been by far the most challenging in my life with multiple moves, a long drawn-out divorce, and my mother’s passing. I want to say a huge thank you to our operations manager, Angela, who came onto our team and has quickly become the backbone of smoothly scaling our company, especially while my personal life took more of my attention. She showed up, learned quickly, and helped to streamline so much, so we could not only survive but thrive. This business wouldn’t be here without her and neither would I. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart.
