We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Poore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, how do you think about risk?
Take all the risks you can! Risk-taking has played a huge role in who I am as an individual and what I am as a professional. I have moved cities, states and countries so many times just to try out new ways of living and I wouldn’t have changed a thing. Taking risks has taught me to be adaptable, daring and more resilient. By getting out of my comfort zone, I have learned and experienced so many things than I ever imagined.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started my professional photography journey 10 years ago as an intern for a wedding photography company here in Colorado. I took every gig I could, learned from professionals in the field and taught myself how to start my own business down the road. I wouldn’t say it was easy, but it has been so worth it. There were moments when I wanted to give up and suffered from imposter syndrome. I learned to lean on my support system and believe in myself a little more to get through the tough times.

I have loved photography since I could pick up a Polaroid camera. I was always snapping photos of my pets, family & friends growing up. During high school, I took a semester of film photography and fell in love with the creative process. As a professional now, I still like to do fun shoots on my days off to keep the creativity flowing! My favorite pictures are the little “in-between” moments; those candid seconds when you are being your authentic self. These are the memories I aim to commemorate. I love to take photos that invoke emotion, meaning & bring people back into a moment in time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them around Denver for a couple of days then go explore the mountains for the rest of the time! I would take them to the University of Denver/South Pearl area to eat some tacos at Uno Mas and walk around Wash Park. We would definitely have make a couple stops at my favorite breweries (Trve Brew & Odell Brewing). Next up is exploring the mountains! Camping & hiking in the Summit county & Buena Vista areas are my favorites for weekend trips!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my friends & family. Your unwavering support and love have been fundamental in growing my business and I couldn’t do it without you. I also want to give a shoutout to my return clients – you guys are amazing & I love getting to continue to work with you!
