Meet laurie cullum | Murals and design

We had the good fortune of connecting with laurie cullum and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi laurie, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
That the design process is not as playful and easy as one might think. A lot of time and thought goes into it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My interest in the arts have always been present in my life. Currently I am getting into murals. Everything about this process excites me. The design, creating a palette, and the instant gratification of putting the paint on the wall. The before and after. It hasn’t been easy getting to this stage, I’ve tried all kinds of work that is more fitting to the “normal” lifestyle, and honestly that was much harder, because it just wasn’t a good fit. The lesson I’ve learned is to just keep trying.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Durango is a small town, filled with a lot of outdoor enthusiasts. We would go enjoy the outdoors.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to offer a shout out the PANDR. They are Phoebe and Roxy, and they are on social media teaching artists to stand up for a sustainable pay scale.
