We had the good fortune of connecting with Leah Ryan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Well, I have been throwing events since 2007… before “vendor events” were a thing. I have always had a passion for helping locally owned small businesses succeed and focused on that goal in each event I have ever thrown. I helped form a local, grassroots women based networking group with a friend of mine in 2012 and it just became part of who I was, my following and success. I learned how important “networking” is to get your business off the ground. I learned that you have to build an authentic foundation and relationship with someone before earning their business, and their referrals. So, in 2016 when I was presented with the opportunity to open the Denver Chapter of Housewives in the City, I was elated and of course I said yes!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have a 20+ year long career in the Real Estate and Mortgage Industry that I still actively work in as a Senior Loan Professional. One thing that I have observed over the years about who is truly successful and who isn’t… are the doers. The ones who don’t make excuses. The ones who do whatever it takes. The ones who put themselves out there. The ones who aren’t afraid to take risks. The ones who fail, fall or stumble but brush it off and get up and keep going. You cannot lose your momentum or drive or focus! I am a doer. I know what my goal line looks like and how to get there. I am driven, focused, ambitious and determined. I have learned that if I let my eye off the goal or let something deflate me, it will take 5 times longer to get back to where I was so, I have to just keep going. I have experienced serious fallouts, challenges, industry roller coasters and attitude adjustments in the past few years…. and I know now that I am the only one that is in my way of achieving the goals I have set out into my future!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would definitely take a trip to the mountains and visit some mountain towns, go to a concert at Red Rocks, spend a couple days downtown in Denver eating at some of the best restaurants and maybe seeing a show at the Denver Center for performing arts… There are so many different things to do in and around the Denver area that we could easily spend days shopping and eating and playing and having fun or… Laying around some amazing hotel rooms getting room service and watching movies all day.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people that have contributed to my success with Denver Housewives in the City. A long list of empowering personal friends and business acquaintances that have supported me and inspired me to go in certain directions. Judy, Megan, Ronica and Kathleen are my top cheerleaders and ALWAYS entertain my crazy ideas and events! The Housewives in the City brand is nationwide and internally, there are so many other ladies in their own respective cities that should receive recognition for always being there to bounce ideas off of and encouraging our growth! I find inspiration and encouragement in every day life and always try to stay creative and adaptable with our ever changing world and society! I still have the same purpose and passion to focus on locally owned businesses, helping them thrive and love the energy that is derived from seeing that communal success. As I branch out on my blog into the larger advertising space with bigger companies, I will always use my skills to connect on a personal level and be relatable to my audience… and that credit goes to every single business owner out there that stays true and level in their growth!
