We had the good fortune of connecting with Leslie Ebert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leslie, why did you pursue a creative career?
With a background in art, graphic design and a passion for the outdoors, I have seamlessly transitioned from being a successful artist to a skilled landscape designer. I bring a unique perspective to my projects, combining my artistic eye for detail with my knowledge of horticulture and design principles. I excel at creating harmonious outdoor spaces that not only enhance the natural beauty of the surroundings but also provide a sense of tranquility and balance. My ability to envision and execute creative and sustainable landscape designs sets me apart in the industry, and I am dedicated to delivering exceptional results that exceed my clients’ expectations.
I feel my business is a reflection of my artistic talents, like a portfolio. I personally take all the photos, designed both websites and handcraft our logo. Also do all the craftsman stone work on fireplaces, fire pits and retaining walls. I believe that gardening and art complement each other perfectly.

What should our readers know about your business?
Stonegate Gardens stands out in the garden industry for our specialized services tailored to garden enthusiasts.! While many companies offer standard landscaping tasks such as hauling dirt and planting trees, we prioritize intricate and elaborate garden designs. With my artistic background and years of experience, the possibilities for clients garden are truly limitless.

When’s starting Stonegate Gardens in 2001, there were limited female-run companies in the garden and landscape sector. Over the years, I have witnessed a positive shift with more female-owned businesses thriving in the industry, which is truly inspiring.

I have always made organic gardening practices a priority, firmly believing in enhancing the environment, not harming it! As a landscape company, we are dedicated to promoting sustainability and preserving the natural beauty of our surroundings.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I enjoy riding my bicycle or scooter to the RiNo District to explore the artisan shops, savor the local food, and unwind at the cozy coffee shops. Plus a local farmers market on the weekend for fresh produce!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am truly grateful for the mentorship and guidance provided by Michael Covillo, as my first landscape job was with his company. Right out of college and rethinking my art career, I took on a summer job with Covillo where I had the opportunity to learn and refine my skills in business and garden design over the course of five years. His expertise and support were pivotal in shaping my career and fostering my passion for creating stunning outdoor landscapes.
