We had the good fortune of connecting with Leslie Lew and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leslie, what matters most to you?
The principle I value the most and stand by is a self-defense mindset. The reality is that all women have to wake up each day with the lingering fear of a potential physical or non-physical attack. A physical attack can be on the streets or in environments that make them feel most vulnerable. Non-physical attacks are things like microaggressions in the workplace, being gaslit in a personal relationship, unwarranted comments from toxic family members and sometimes we attack ourselves with our inner critic. These things leave us feeling burnt out or suffocated in our headspace. Some experiences killed our spirit and we look for a way to gain that spirit back.

A self-defense mindset is your anchor and way to stand in your power, take up space and reclaim your courage!

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the Founder of Reclaiming Your Courage, a Trauma-informed Self-Defense Coach, Author, and International Keynote Speaker. I became the “Self-Defense Mama” when I decided to become the mother I always needed by breaking the cycle of intergenerational trauma. I identify as a second-generation Korean and Chinese American, mother of two, wife, and entrepreneur. I am a San Francisco native and have been a martial artist for 20 years with a black belt in Tae Kwan Do Hap Kido and Kenpo Karate.

My mission is to save the lives of AAPI womxn and allies to the BIPOC, Latinx, LGBTQIA+, Neurodivergent, and Differently Abled communities. I help professional women and mothers
become stronger self-advocates through a self-defense mindset. If you are feeling burnt out or suffocated in your current headspace, you are not alone. You have experienced something that has killed your spirit and you are looking for a way to gain that spirit back.

I help people who are trying to navigate through their mental health and are suffering because of the toll that takes on career, family, and social life are suffering because they are overwhelmed with fear.
When you tap into a self-defense mindset, you are no longer drained by how others perceive you. You are rooted in love and courage. Through our work together you will learn how to stand in your power, take up space and reclaim your courage!

You are not alone. You are worth fighting for because you are enough.
