Meet Leticia Abajo Torrijos | Family Educator and Life Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Leticia Abajo Torrijos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leticia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
As a parent and a Family Educator, I saw there was a gap in intergenerational communication, especially on those families whose parents are immigrants. There is a lack of understanding due to the circumstances related culture, language and other factors. The fact that the kids belong to a different culture than the parents, and still don’t necessarily fit in the culture where they live, creates a third culture that sometimes is hard to understand for the rest.
Communication is key, not only to have a smaller lack of understanding due to the natural differences in generations, but also to learn from each other experiences. This is where Deshaciendo Nudos. Untangled (DN.U) was created, to offer education on this topic.
DN.U is here to facilitate that conversation about the LGBTQIA+ community so we can be allies, whether we have a family member of that community or we just want to support others in their growth, health and safety.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am very proud of being able to talk to people when they are looking for clarity and understanding. I can speak to each person in their own “language”. I have created multiple workshops, webinars, and talks that I offer through my website www.desahcernudos.com and through my Facebook page Deshaciendo Nudos. Untangled.
I also offer individual attention when a person is looking to improve their personal relationships, needs structure and clarity on the next move for their life or is trying to figure out who they are and what they need to do.
As a professional, I have always been involved in other people’s processes, very often through my regular jobs and in an individual basis. It was hard to recognize that the next step was to create a company and start doing it as my profession. One I saw it it was completely clear to me that I am in the wright path.
It is important that as individuals, we recognize that we are part of a community, whether we like or not, and that our success is bigger when the community at large benefits. So, keeping in mind this, will help you spring into your call and achieve your goals.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The town I live in is a small but mighty one! We are about 30 minutes from Denver, 15 from Boulder and Longmont and there is so much to see around here. Hiking is a must when yo visit, but you need to remember to drink water, and be careful when hiking! Altitude sickness is real! I love going to Boulder Pearl Street Mall, and it is where people go to “see and be seen” so to speak!
For wonderful dinner in Boulder, I recommend Dagabi Cucina, Spanish and Italian delicious food!
Denver is a very cosmopolitan city! Beautiful parks, bike paths and the best restaurant called True Food Kitchen!
And for the best “beer” made with corn, please go to Dos Luces (Delicious chicha from Los Andes)
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
