Meet Levi Kastner | Lead Vocals/Guitarist of Static Heads

We had the good fortune of connecting with Levi Kastner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Levi, how do you think about risk?
I think risk is essential if you want to do anything that matters creatively. Playing it safe might keep you comfortable, but it won’t push you forward. For us, risk has shown up in everything from deciding to get on stage the first time, to putting original songs out into the world, to investing in gear and gigs not knowing if they’d pay off.
There’s always a fear that things won’t land, that people won’t show up, or that you’ll fall on your face. But I’ve found that risk is where all the growth happens. It’s how we’ve found our sound, our fans, and our confidence. Every time we’ve stepped outside the safe zone, even when it didn’t go perfectly, it pushed us closer to who we really are as a band.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets our music apart is the raw emotion behind it. I’m really proud of how far the songwriting has come, not just lyrically, but in how honest and personal it’s become. That, and the fact that we can now record and produce everything ourselves. My home studio has grown so much over the years, and learning to produce has opened up a whole new creative side for me.
Getting here definitely wasn’t easy. There’s been a lot of failure, sometimes embarrassing, sometimes frustrating, but that’s where the real growth came from. We went from playing tiny restaurants and house parties to booking real venues, and every step taught us something new. Collaborating with other musicians, learning how to read a crowd, learning how to let go of perfection and just feel the moment. It’s all part of the process.
What I’ve learned is that nothing replaces doing the work and showing up with passion. We’re not perfect, and we never will be. But we give everything we’ve got. There’s nothing like playing live… The rush, the connection, the energy in the room when people start dancing or feeling something because of what you’re doing. That’s what keeps me going.
If there’s one thing I’d want people to know, it’s that this isn’t about chasing some perfect sound or image. It’s about creating something real, something that moves people, and being part of a community that loves music as much as we do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not the most dialed-in tour guide when it comes to Denver, but I’d still make sure my best friend had a great time. We’d start with something fun like Elitch Gardens to shake off the travel energy. Then maybe head to the Denver Botanic Gardens for something more relaxed and beautiful. City Park is always a good spot to hang out.
We’d definitely make time for Meow Wolf. It’s one of those places you can’t really explain. You just have to experience it. After that, I’d leave room for exploration. Denver has a lot of hidden gems tucked into different neighborhoods. Little bars with live music, indie cafes, vintage stores, low-key art shows. That’s the stuff I really enjoy discovering with people.
At night, we’d probably find a show to catch, whether it’s at a venue or someone’s backyard. Some of the best nights start with no plan at all.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s no way I’d be where I am without the support of the people around me. My family has been behind me since the very beginning. They supported me through my first band back in high school, which really set everything in motion. My grandpa played a big part by paying for my early guitar lessons with Noel Hernandez, and later Rueban Gonzalez helped me continue my journey—teaching me not just guitar, but music theory and really becoming a good friend along the way.
I also have to shout out my bandmate and best friend Alec—he and I started this project together, and it’s been growing ever since. Colt and Clay joined and helped us lock in the sound we were looking for.
My girlfriend Emily has been a huge part of the journey too—helping with marketing, being a solid source of support, and just believing in what we’re doing.
