We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsay Jewell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsay, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I don’t know that there was a thought process versus a draw to owning my own business. I have always enjoyed challenging myself to work harder, do better and accomplish more. I am the kind of person who wants to beat my best score and see if I can do better. I always enjoyed working with a team and I have never been afraid of hard work but there is a lack of freedom and flexibility in that. Having a career in Real Estate and Property Management allows me to customize my brand, be myself and push myself to do better. There is a great feeling of success when you can see the growth and challenge yourself from within.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Real Estate has been the perfect fit for me, the opportunity to build something I can be proud of, to know that my results are a direct correlation to my efforts. It is hard work, it is a stressful industry and being able to keep up, in both a fast and slow paced market is a challenge. Staying focused on education and growth in my knowledge and understanding is what keeps me pushing forward. There have been struggles, I am sure everyone feels the pressure to preform well at work, provide your for your family and take care of yourself. There is a balance and it can get hard to maintain and everyone has a personal version of balance so not many people can provide you with perspective that applies to your personal balances. I am still learning to afford myself grace and flexibility in my expectations of myself and others, I am a working progress.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our area is filled with natural beauty and outdoor adventure to explore. If I had a week with someone I would want to show them the mountains, local trails and waterways that are so unique to our immediate area.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am extremely grateful for the opportunities I have been given and for the people that have provided me with growth in my life and career. It always amazes me when I think back about the road I’ve been traveling and I realize how many small things led to meeting great people who opened all new doors for me. For every opportunity given to me I am thankful, but most of all I am thankful to the woman who raised me. If not for my hardworking and dedicated mother, Shannon Jewell, I may not have had the work ethic and drive that afforded me the opportunities from others. There are so many people who encouraged me and saw something in me, maybe before I saw it myself, without their faith I may not have been courageous enough to take the risks I have. I often think of those people when I reflect on my journey with love and gratitude.
