Meet Lindsey Griffith | CEO and Owner of Maven Society and Maven Society Media

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsey Griffith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lindsey, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a single mom of two kiddos, the most important thing I’ve done to impact my children is to set an example as a strong, hardworking woman. I want my daughter to know that she can do anything she sets her mind to. To really spend the time to know who she is, grow her confidence daily and understand self respect. Fo my son, he is a strong boy who has been given many medical challenges as well as some cognitive delays including Autism. With him it is truly about being adaptable to change as each day is a new normal for us, unsure of what we will be faced with. Self respect is still is a value for him we work on every day, as is knowing how to allow a woman to stand in her own light, to be the supporter. It is equally important for me to teach him how to receive support when he needs it; not being too prideful. In owning my business they see the determination, dedication, grit and passion I put into it; I pray I inspire them to not give up on their dreams.
What should our readers know about your business?
Maven Society is a women owned, women operated and women supported business. I have 20+ years of experience in the corporate workforce in in areas of business analysis, growth and development, customer relations, and marketing and media. It was 4 years ago I took the chance on myself and began researching how to go out on my own. A year later I launched my own business. It has been filled with ups and downs along the way.
One of the biggest mental hurdles I had to overcome was the “fear of failure”. Failure in many ways is inevitable. I was so worried about failing, making a big mistake, loosing everything and that is what happened! I was in a brick and mortar with a business partner who cared only for herself. She took advantage of my kindness, hard work, business acumen and friendship. I was left with nothing but a broken heart, battered ego and depleted savings account.
I could have given up right then and there. I could have allowed that one person’s actions to determine the course of my life. But instead, I chose to get back up, learn from my mistakes and dive back in. I knew that I was not done. I took the lessons learned of legal documentation, property rights and business ownership and backed by my true grit and determiniation and applied it into Maven Society. I also applied the knowledge of what not to do in a partnership, how to handle difficult conversations and how to protect myself and my business.
I am beyond excited about Maven Society for many reasons but most of all because it is authentic. I built Maven Society up with the standards of who I am as a person, a woman, a mother, and a business owner. How I expect to be treated and treat myself, the skills and knowledge I need to know to run a successful business and much more. It represents everything I believe in and stand for. It is a safe place for women to gather, learn and grow without judgement. It’s about community, support, vulnerability, collaboration and so much more. I believe in the saying, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”. And that is what Maven Society is all about. Through my side by side business coaching my clients are able to grow their confidence, skill set, step into their place as the CEO of her business and take it to the next level.
My coaching services come in a range of programs, there is nothing cookie cutter about owning a business to the next one. I am here to help my clients make those business decisions that matter allowing them to carve out a place in the womens entrepreneurial world that is fit for them. We work together to scale her businesses and take back her power. Together we work through self limiting beliefs, imposter syndrome, low confidence and breaking the chains of doubt.
Through Maven Society and coaching women in business, naturally birthed Maven Society Media, where our clients lean on us to support their digital and online presence from web design and management, to social media, branding, creative creation and marketing.
Through my own experiences I feel it is invaluable to give back where it is needed; today I support several women shelters. With the hopes of opening a non-profit in the near future mentoring young girls and women coming back to the workforce after hardship.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, I would take her to some of my favorite places to shop, hang and dine out at. Going vintage shopping would be on the agenda for sure looking for the best treasures we can find to flip and fill our homes with. Old Crows Antiques in Littleton and The Barn in Castle Rock are two of my favorites. For the sites I love the hiking in The Garden of the Gods or maybe renting out an Air BnB up near Estes Park for some early morning sunrises; we are both photography junkies too. Coffee everymorning and for down time I with my girl I love the local coffeehouses you find when being in new places to enjoy a great pourover coffee. Food this is a tough one I love too many… Sierra’s in Lone Tree for dinner, Little India’s in Golden is fabulous and sushi I am a sucker for great sushi. For drinks we would hit up some great bourbon spots like Roosevelt’s, Neat Whiskey House, Viewhouse Centennial, and The Bluegrass Lounge.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Not to be a cliche, my mother. Perhaps not in the way others have spoken of a parent. It was not in how my mother saw me as a child, showed me in her actions growing up, or her accomplishments that I strived to mimic. You see, I am quite different than most of my family and didn’t “fit” the mold exactly, and was always ok with that. My mother tried her best to teach me the values that meant the most to her, and many still do for me today. It was her perseverance in trying to keep me safe, away from hard situations, and hold me back from challenging experiences that forced me to pour myself into it all that much more. To take the chance, and risks, and face my fears. You see, if I had not felt her safety I might not have built the grit and determination I have today. If she had not loved me as much as she had I might not have taken the chances on myself as I did and do, knowing she would always catch me when I fell. Through the hurt, pain, and torment that help build my character, it was her love that softened the blow and allowed me to continue on. It was even more recently of me stepping into my own light in the last past years, my mother really seeing me for who I am. I am the luckiest girl to have the woman I call mom!
