We had the good fortune of connecting with Wendy Walsh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wendy, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I received my first camera when I was 10 years old. My Grandfather (whom I’ve never met) was a photographer, my Dad was a hobbiest painter, my Mom is very creative, so it just seemed the right route to go. In High school I studied Commercial art, free hand drawing, screen printing, etc.. In college I studied photography. That’s were my love lies. After college I was making my money in retail and didn’t see photography as a career. So it stayed a hobby. Then life happened, marriage, kids, mortgage, etc… fast forward I love to travel, so on one of our many trips I decided to combine my love of travel with my love of photography. I came up with a name for my photography business and used that name for a few years but I was’t truly in love with the name, my business never really got off the ground because I dragged my feet until I came up with a name I could be happy to promote. This business has been on and off for a long time.
I can’t really promote my self as a travel photography because that would mean someone pays me to travel and take photos. That’s not the case. But I do like to say I travel and take photos because that encompasses a lot of photography genres; landscapes, seascapes, people, flora and fauna, street, architecture, black and white and so much more.
In the past 2 years, I have sold my home and now live in an RV full time so that I can travel and take photos. Over the years I have been finding that a lot of people don’t like to travel, that being said Adventure Clicks Photography gives you
~A visual snack of the world.~
I now have a website; www.adventureclicksphotography and I sell my photos at Old Crows Antiques in Littleton, CO (booth P232) I have also expanded my business to offer product photography.
I should say, my husband has a great job and is able to give me the support I need in order to live my dream and become a full time photographer.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What separates me from other photographers? I guess I’d have to say Adventure Clicks Photography is versatile. I have taken macro, landscapes, action, wildlife, events, and even behind the scenes of movies.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I moved to Colorado in August 2022. Anyone that comes to visit, my favorite places to take them (so far) have been Squaw pass, Central City, off roading in the mountains in my Jeep, Peak to Peak ride, and Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. Although I have been to Rocky Mountain National park years ago, I haven’t made it back yet since moving here. It’s definitely on my list.
Colorado has definitely stopped me in my tracks, I am trying to photograph every inch of this beautiful state.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My very supportive husband, Michael Walsh and my 2 children Sydney and Justin for going on all my crazy adventures.
