We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsie Upton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsie, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I started Best Eats Denver six years ago with the sole purpose of showing appreciation for the booming and amazing food scene in Denver. As a Colorado native, it has been an exciting experience to see Denver evolve into one of the best food scenes in the U.S.

I believe my brand is successful because our restaurant community is exceptional and I make it a priority to share the food, the owners, and the stories behind what makes this community so great. Trying new restaurants, featuring old favorites, or promoting fun dining experiences comes easy when there is so much to do and so much to try in Denver.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Six years ago I was living in RiNo and watching new restaurants (many still some of my favorites) opening up every week. There was always a new one to try and getting to all of them was so exciting and fun. I quickly branded myself a ‘foodie’ and decided to start Best Eats Denver to promote small businesses, share great experiences, and document our love for the restaurant scene. I wasn’t expecting to gain followers but it has been exciting to see my account grow over the years and to have people follow our foodie adventures.

The best thing about starting Best Eats Denver is the countless small business owners we have met along the way. Our restaurant scene is filled with some of the most genuine, creative, and hard working chefs/shefs and staff around! Experiencing their passion through incredible dishes is a privilege!

As a Colorado native I am proud to see our restaurant scene continue to grown and evolve. I want my brand to motivate people to try new things- make those reservations, there is SO much to experience in the Denver metro food scene!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Spend the day in Golden by hiking Mount Zion and rewarding yourself with a brewery day- New Terrain and Golden City Brewery (‘GCB’) are always a great place to enjoy Colorado sunshine. Eat at Nosu Ramen for some excellent ramen or at King of Wings + Tequila for our favorite wings.

Go to Boulder and catch a CU football or basketball game (SkoBuffs)! The campus is so beautiful, it’s a can’t miss. Explore Pearl St. and eat at High Country for some awesome comfort food. End the adventure with a cocktail at a long-time favorite, The Bitter Bar.

Explore Breckenridge. Take a hike on one of the dozens of awesome trails and stop in town to take a picture with the troll! Go to Gold Pan Saloon for a cocktail- this bar is 140+ years old and they have the oldest liquor license this side of the Mississippi! Have a fabulous dinner at Aurum or BoLD and then make a final stop at The Canteen for a fun and unique drink experience.

Lastly, treat yourself to the Denver food scene! Some of our favorites:
Temaki Den, Uchi, Kawa Ni, Work & Class, Voghera , Safta , Somebody People, Sap Sua, Fish & Beer, Bodega. Follow us on instagram at @besteatsdenver for more recommendations!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This shoutout is dedicated to Denver’s amazing restaurant community- the hard working business owners, staff, and supporting neighborhoods around them. As well as to all my fellow foodies who have been following our journey on Best Eats Denver.
