We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah and Eben D’Agostino and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah and Eben, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We started Crumb City because we are passionate about cooking/baking plant-based. We LOVE sharing our creations with others and seeing their reaction when we tell them, it is plant based. There was a hole in the dessert market/plant-based world, where, finding homemade, gourmet, fresh cookies, was hard to find. Also, we love being in the kitchen together, and work so well as a team, starting a business together, based around plant-based baking, only felt right. We each bring unique qualities that allow us to delegate tasks and excel in the areas that excite us. Our favorite place in the whole house has and will always be the kitchen, where there are good music vibes, laughs, creations, friends and memories. We love the process of setting a goal, embarking on the journey, overcoming obstacles, and personally growing along the way. The best part of starting our own business is the ability to make every minute count. We both work full time and run Crumb City, so we do not have much down time, which is ideal for us.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Sarah is known for being in the kitchen, always, known for her creative sweet concoctions. After going vegan over 7 years ago, she embraced the journey of learning how to cook with different ingredients, experimenting with flavors and learning methods to create specific consistencies and textures. She is known in the family for her kitchen skills. Sarah never backs down from a cooking/baking challenge, she believes she can make anything vegan, and she does just that, including her own wedding cake! Sarah’s creativity, has taken her and Eben to and from starting many LLCs in the plant-based space. From those experiences, they took all they learned about business, food, networking, licensing, etc. and when they launched Crumb City there was a feeling of divine timing, exactly what they should be doing, right now. Eben thrives on bringing people together, he loves creating a space where people connect, and Crumb City, with its’ urban/city vibe, delicious plant-based cookies that almost anyone can enjoy, is exactly the space for that. He is our resident Dj, @EBENTHOMASMUSIC, where he brings the beats to our market events, and we feel our atmosphere coupled with our deepdish, and stuffed gourmet cookies, is what sets us apart. What we want everyone to know about Crumb City is that we are a husband and wife team that wants to inspire people to belief in themselves, find the people that believe in you, and chase your dreams, like your life depends on it. Crumb City is just getting started, we have huge dreams for this business and, if you have tried one of our cookies, we cannot explain the gratitude we have for your support. Everyone that we meet, is apart of this journey.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Monday- Sarah would cook a vegan french toast breakfast, followed by a walk with the dogs, and then head out to Boulder, and take a hike on one of the many trails. For dinner we would go to City O’ City in Denver and then have Crumb City for dessert!
Tuesday- We would head to Estes Lake and walk the 5 mile loop, then catch brunch at Notch Top, and then head home for a stuffed shell vegan dish, later we would walk peal street and sit outside with a cold or warm specialty drink
Wednesday-We would head to Colorado Springs to clim the incline, from there we would head back into Denver, grab dinner at So Radish, and later on walk Golden and the river
Thursday-We would take a trip to Frisco and Dillion Lake, take a pontoon out for the day, enjoy the scenic views and grab dinner at the Sunshine Cafe on the way home
Friday- We would go back to Boulder and attempt the Royal Arch, eat lunch at the top and then hike back. From there we would grab a coffee on Pearl street from a local shop, and browse through the stores finding treasures
Saturday-We would get up and explore the Red Rocks before the show that evening. We would spend the day exploring Denver and Union Station
Sunday-Head to a farmers market and meet cool vendors, we would end the trip with another live music event, and then a few Crumb City cookies to end the night

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, we want to shoutout each other. We are not only each other’s best friend, we also push eachother beyond our comfort zones and encourage and support each other to reach for the stars.

Second, Esther/Abraham Hicks, their books and teachings have quite literally changed our life. The power of manifestation and the Law of Attraction are two concepts we lean into wholeheartedly.

Third, Donna Moselsky, Eben’s mother, Sarah’s mother-in-law. She is known for her homemade, from scratch cooking. When Sarah met her 11 years ago, she was inspired, to the point to where, Sarah now makes everything from scratch. Donna has won many awards for her cooking, and Crumb City recently won Best Cookie in the Vegan Chef Challenge.

Last but never least, our families and friends. Their excitement, feedback, support, encouragement and belief, has been second to none. We are beyond grateful for the people in our life, and we continue to meet the coolest people at events, that also follow and support our journey.
