We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Dimino White and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lisa, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is my belief that most people are pretty darn great and just can’t see their awesomeness because they focus too much on their shortcomings, what they lack, and what other people can do better than they can. They assume that they’re “nothing special” and think that others can do what they can do. My mission is to hold a newly-designed mirror in front of them so they can see themselves for the amazing humans that they are, and remind them that they can have a huge influence on making others to feel happier too!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m known as “The Joy Seeker”: inspiring others to seek, create, and spread joy for themselves, their communities, and all of humankind. I believe that we all have struggles, but those struggles don’t define us.

I’ve struggled with OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and anxiety since I was six years old, yet I’m one of the most positive and optimistic people you’ll ever meet. I don’t let my challenges define me…..I decide how I live my life, and others have the same power to decide that for themselves, too.

Up until last year I didn’t share my OCD struggles with anyone other than my family and a few very close friends. Out of embarrassment and insecurity, I didn’t want people to look at me differently. But when COVID hit, and my OCD symptoms spiked because of the intense fear that I had around this virus, people around me couldn’t understand why I was unraveling so fast. I realized that these people thought I had it all together – that I was positive and optimistic because I had a “perfect life!” Little did they know what was really going on! I started telling people about my OCD because I wanted them to see that we all have struggles, but we can be positive, optimistic, and joyful despite them.

In an effort to reinforce that important lesson, I wrote an Amazon best-selling book, “Bursting with Happiness”, and host a podcast with the same name. A happy life is all about creating moments that make us smile and feel good about ourselves. I call those “bursts of joy”, and the more of them we can create for ourselves and others the happier lives we have. A happy life is not about being perfect, or having no shortcomings; it’s about learning how to improve or fix the shortcomings that are keeping us from being as happy as we know we can be, and letting the rest go.

I also share this message through local and national speaking opportunities. My talks include specific tools that audiences start implementing right away to recognize their own greatness, find more perspective, and feel more joyful. Essentially, we’re more awesome than we think we are….we just forget that sometimes!

I’m also a Certified Professional Coach, where I work one-on-one with clients to develop strategies to achieve whatever goals they have. It’s so rewarding to help people achieve what they set out to do; it brings them a ton of pride and a whole lot of joy!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would first head south to the Garden of the Gods – my friend would be in awe of the natural beauty of that amazing place. While in that area we’d spend an evening at the Broadmoor. Not only are the views and hotel breathtaking, but the staff really knows how to make their guests feel special. It never fails….whenever I’m there I feel so joyful!

We’d spend one day shopping….we’d hit the 16th Street Mall, Belmar, and the Outlets at Castle Rock (all my favorites!)

We’d spend a few days in my favorite mountain town in Colorado – Ouray. On the way there, we’d visit the Outlets at Silverthorne (of course!), and then stop in Breckenridge or Vail for lunch. While in Ouray, we would enjoy the beautiful hot springs and soak up the incredible scenery. We’d also shop in all of the great stores and eat in the delicious restaurants.

Finally, we’d wrap up her trip with a concert at Red Rocks! (Hopefully my favorite performer will be playing there….Barry Manilow. Fun fact: I’m even an official member of his fan club. I’m a “Fanilow!”)

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be where I am without my husband Jonathan. His patience, support, and encouragement have allowed me to be the best version of me that I can be!
