We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lisa, how does your business help the community or world?
Massage therapy is so beneficial for all of us. Old or young, massage therapy increases your quality of life by improving immune function, reducing muscle tension, reducing pain, and improving sleep just to make a few benefits. Numerous groups in the community benefit from massage therapy, and it keeps our community healthy, mentally and physically. Denver Massage Therapy is a mobile massage service, bringing the clinic to you. Many members of our community are housebound and unable to access massage therapy. Denver Massage provides nurturing healing touch in the convenience of your home, giving you peace of mind, body and spirit.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
This is my 18th year providing massage therapy! After graduating high school I knew I wanted to find a career where I could help others feel better. Ive always believed strongly in healing touch and the vast mental and physical benefits massage has to offer. Career ‘burn out’ is common among Massage therapist and I believe I have avoided this by a few things. I keep my schedule light, and always make sure I have time for myself. I try and always maintain proper body mechanics during the massage, paying extra attention to my back posture and hands. I have struggled in the past with working in small dark treatment rooms for hours. Mobile massage allows me to keep my surroundings ever changing, and I get to see all my clients pets. Some lessons Ive learned along the way are to never take things personally, and to always love yourself. Self love is so important, especially for those taking care of others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my favorite places in the city are the delicious restaurants Denver has! If my best friend was coming to visit Denver, we would start the morning at Wash Perk, my local coffee shop. Take a walk around the Denver Botanic Gardens, then head over to City O’City for a chicken & waffle lunch. Afterwards head over to the capital building and show her the mile high step at 5,280 feet. Then we would have a delicious dinner at Somebody people followed with dessert from Bonnie Brae Ice cream. Finish the day at Washington Park, bird watching and catching a sunset.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Shoutout goes to my amazing clients! I am so grateful for being a trusted part of their wellness journey. Success for me is seeing all the positive changes massage therapy makes in my clients lives. Massage therapy is such a blessing and a gift that I’m honored to share!
