We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa White and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lisa, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I didn’t really see anyone else addressing the emotional challenges one faces while going through fertility treatments. Having lived through IVF myself, it became apparent to me that individuals who are confronted with fertility challenges are given very little support outside of their medical team. You are often thrown into a world full of abbreviations and medical jargon not really knowing what to expect. Until you’re really IN it, you recognize that it’s not the physical pains that are the hardest to endure, it’s the emotional pains. I knew a mind, body, spirit approach was essential to not only get through IVF but to thrive through it all. This approach is what I personally used to guide me through the process of IVF and it’s what I now share with others. I drew upon my background as a holistic occupational therapist, and knew it was no coincidence I had chosen to enter into this profession back in 2001. I heard a calling to start a business as a fertility coach and IVF mentor and I’m so thankful I answered that call. Seeing so many individuals struggle is a big part of my why for doing this work. I believe you can transform the way you go about your fertility journey; Moving from a place of fear, pain, and struggle to one of more joy, magic and ease. It is the greatest privilege walking alongside others on their path to motherhood. Through opening up and sharing my story, I realized how many people are walking this path and seeking support to keep holding on.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
One of the things I’m most proud of is listening to the whisper within to pursue this deeply personal work helping others who are struggling with fertility challenges. I knew I had to share my story and wanted to offer hope to others. Despite the setbacks and pain I felt along the way (and only having one healthy embryo waiting for us), I kept moving forward with faith believing it was all falling into place. I got through our challenges recognizing the power of energy and mindset; I knew there was a lot I could control and I chose to let go of the things I couldn’t. I didn’t let my fertility journey define me, but rather I took the power back and chose to live my life. I’m proud of the way I went about this journey and felt called to share this empowered approach with others. What sets me apart as a fertility coach is the “Miracle Mindset” I teach and live by – Integrating the mind, body and spirit and utilizing my unique occupational therapy lens all helped in the creation of “The IVF Soul Align Method.” I hope others find hope, healing and inspiration from my story. That’s what my book, ‘Hold On, Baby’ is all about. The power of holding on, but maybe even more importantly – the power of letting go.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So much to do in a week! I would definitely do a trip up the mountains for a mini getaway. I love Breckenridge and would stop by the river, stroll down Main Street, and pop in for a drink at Apres. Depending on the season, may take them on a camping trip (Unfortunately can’t share our secret camping spots with you!) A trip to Red Rocks is a must to enjoy a concert or some sunrise yoga. I’d show my friend around downtown with stops to Union Station for drinks or dinner at Mercantile or tacos at Machete. Maybe swing by Milk Market. Grab some Ice Cream at Little Man and probable bounce around LoHi – Lola’s or Linger. May catch the downtown city views at El Five or treat ourselves to sushi at Sushi Sasa. Stroll through Larimer Square and pop in wherever our curiosity takes us. If there was a show happening at the Performing Arts District that would be on the list too. A trip up to Rocky Mountain National Park for a hike or picnic, pop into Estes and maybe stroll through the Stanley Hotel. A visit to some breweries would likely be on the list — maybe take a drive up to Ft. Collins and stop into New Belgium or Odells. Strolling Pearl Street in Boulder is always fun. Dine at some brunch venues such as Snooze or Ophelia’s. Catch a ball game at Coors Field. The opportunities for fun in Colorado are endless!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are a few special people I would love to highlight. One is my friend Ellen Melko Moore. She is the creator of SuperTight Brand and helped me get clarity on my specific niche, who I was serving, the problem I was solving and the unique value I brought. I’m so grateful to her for her guidance and insight as I began to dream of starting my own business. She believed in me and helped give me the courage to leap forward. Another friend I would love to recognize is my book coach, Catherine Gregory. She is the Founder of Modern Wisdom Press and helped guide me from the very seed of my book idea, to a completed manuscript and published book! She too believed I needed to share my message with those who needed to hear it most. Without her and her team I would not be where I’m at in my business serving clients from around the world and have a #1 bestselling book on Amazon. ‘Hold On, Baby’ has expanded my reach and has opened many opportunities for me. I’m so grateful to her. My husband, Jason, deserves a special shout out as well. He understood my drive and passion to start my own business, and he continues to support me and my dreams today. During my book writing process there were many late nights of writing. He was very understanding and encouraged me all along the way. I couldn’t have asked for a better partner to get through IVF with. His belief in me is invaluable and I’m incredibly grateful to have him by my side.
