We had the good fortune of connecting with Liz Ferron and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liz, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always been creative, funny & outspoken. These traits didn’t get me far in the corporate world! I knew I belonged in the field of entertainment so I started stand up comedy & decided to get my degree in broadcasting.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have chosen “feel good media” as my career path. I feel connected to people in a way where I want to make them laugh, think, enjoy life & take care of their mental and emotional health. This is why I started stand-up comedy almost 30 years ago, Radio about 20 years ago and I started hosting good morning Vail here in Colorado about 2 1/2 years ago. I also started a podcast here in Vail called the Chatbox. This is where we bring on guests who help the community in any way shape or form with regard to their emotional well-being. I feel that after being through a lot in my life, it’s a great way to give back and to help people who feel isolated, alone or struggling with mental health. Is the best medicine! And I will continue to get on the stage and make people laugh for as long as I can. I love being in the radio on 104.7 The Mile to bring music… another great passion of mine & levity to the community. I e also joined the local theater company & have been performing g with ensemble casts for incredible productions the past few years as well as hosting music festivals!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For the week of entertaining guests, I would begin by taking them on an outdoor adventure! We would take a gondola ride, enjoy the river, hike some amazing trails in Cordillera, Edwards, Vail & Minturn. Skiing and snowboarding if in the wintertime & rafting in Summertime. It is so beautiful here, I would want to expose them to all things nature! We would head to happy hour at The Drunken Goat in Edwards, then perhaps grab coffee at Yeti’s Grind. We live in beautiful Riverwalk where there is shopping, a movie theater & terrific restaurants, so we’d hit my favorite stores, Remix, The Bookworm & Kitchen Collage, We would get skin care treatment at A Wrinkle in Time, hit up a movie & each night enjoy delicious food at Juniper, Main St Grill & Mountain Fish House. For a night out, we would enjoy live music at Route 6 Cafe & Lounge, coffee & karaoke at Loaded Joes & more live music late night at Agave! Our guests would need a vacation after their vacation!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The first person to give me a radio job, Norman Worth in Hackettstown NJ, who made me realize I belonged on morning radio, not afternoon radio trying to stop a bear hunt! Jim Davis, the man who not only gave me my first morning drive show opportunity, but who taught me so much about production, using my voice, community & hurricane disaster radio! Gemini Entertainment for allowing me to discover the true stand up comedian in me as well as taking me on the road to be an emcee & magician’s assistant after hiring me to do an entire summer of comedy, magic & ventriloquist shows in Ocean City, MD – 7 nights a week, 2 shows per night for 2 months! And Danielle Turner, for giving me my first opportunity to host live tv here in Vail, CO
