We had the good fortune of connecting with Liz Tinker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liz, what role has risk played in your life or career?
“No risk, no reward” has always resonated deep within. I truly believe the future belongs to the bold. Now, more than ever, it’s easier to do the bare minimum or nothing; discipline and hard work are rare to see these days! I look at taking risks combined with implementing consistent daily processes as the full equation. We only fail when we stop taking risks and executing the daily disciplines.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
With over 20 years collectively in the beauty industry, I’ve served in multiple roles such as: front desk, to hairstylist, to salon rep, to BDM for a distributor, to business owner and now educator. The beauty industry holds a special place in my heart as I’ve worked in a salon since I was 16 years old. I see artists, creatives and entrepreneurs give so much inspiration to those around us. We love to lift up people and bring out the best in people. I love how I can create an “instant gratification” for my clients; They always leave my chair feeling confident and better on the outside and inside. I’m most excited to step into an educator role and help salon owners and hairstylists alike. I’m excited to help them take their business and income to the next level. When we are inspired we are the MOST creative. The hardest part of my journey is building something amazing and then having to start over from ground zero. Moving across the country, starting a family, and other factors have played a role in struggling to juggle that work life balance. At the end of the day, I know deep down it’s always worth it to keep moving forward. The time will pass either way and I know myself deep down that I must be an entrepreneur and I must be in a creative space.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I’m biased however I live in one of the best places in the US for the great outdoors. With Pike’s Peak right out my window, adventure is always a couple minutes away! I’d start out taking my bestie to the manitou incline: 2768 wooden stairs at the base of Pikes Peak. Then we would hit up Garden of the Gods Cafe off of Tejon St. Would finish up the evening at the new outdoor Ford Ampitheater to see whatever show was in town. Love my city!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Jes Davis, a mentor and example of success in the beauty industry. She never has an ego; she is humble and so dang sweet to everyone. She helped guide me in getting to the next level of my career on multiple platforms. Brandy Harris the owner of MANA Collaborative Beauty in Highlands Ranch, CO also deserve so much recognition. The team at MANA daily inspires me to grow professionally. I’m so grateful to have them in my journey.
