We had the good fortune of connecting with Lord Scorpio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lord, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Dedication and Opportunism are two core factors to my success. I had to sit with myself very early in my music career and make a vow to not give up on it. It was really hard to commit to in those low moments where things aren’t working out but I used that vow as my anchor. I’ve shown myself time and time again that if i get back up good things will follow. I also think optimism is very important. In a world where were told Arts and Music aren’t practical or realistic career paths its important i remind myself to stay positive because a negative outlook will attract and negative outcome, just as a positive with attract abundance.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been releasing music for 3 years now. Before that I was a songwriter and ghostwriter for other artists. I decided to become an artist because I wanted to put the Art back into Recording Artist. I feel a lot of music lacks depth. I challenge myself to stay authentic to my creative voice and sound, while storytelling. I’m most proud of the knowledge I’ve built through being an independent artist. There’s no school for this so to learn the business, marketing, promotion, sound engineering and graphic design as all the parts of the career, i feel very proud. I I’d say I got to where I am through hard work and dedication. It may sound cliche but THAT is the formula. Once you make a promise to yourself that you’re gonna go for it no matter what, all you need is those two things. Challenging myself to step out of my comfort zone, sonically, socially. I try to put myself out there. Like performing, writing for tv/film, crating event in NY. I was definitely not easy but i didn’t expect it to be therefore I was never really discouraged by failure. In fact, I encouraged it. I felt a breakthrough with every lesson I learned. The one thing that really helped me was something my sister told me, “Never let money stop you”. Even when the odds aren’t in your favor there’s always a way to persevere.
I want to world to know me for being bold, taking risks, and staying true to myself.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d definitely start with a museum/park day. Central Park is a must and The Museum of Natural History is so big, you could spend the day! The next day we’d hit the East Village to for a hang at Thompkins Park and a shopping at Crystals Garden. i love buying lavender and crystals from there. Maybe next day we’d hang in Brooklyn, I love the Brooklyn Bridge park and all the cute food trucks. Over the weekend we’d have to go to an event. A show, music, dj party, something to dressup for and sweat on the dance floor. Rooftop views before the night is over. Lastly, we’d have to go to one of my favorite cafe’s , Cafe Moca, for some vegan chopped cheeses and matcha lattes.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shoutout Jason Guay!! He’s been my biggest supporter since my SoundCloud days. He’s love to my music means so much to me. I love that we are great friends now and I hang with him every time I’m in LA. Love you JASON!!
