We had the good fortune of connecting with Lorena Molina and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lorena, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
My immediate thought on habits driving success was solely from a business perspective. As I tried to find the words that usually have no problem flowing, I found myself stuck.
As I look at my life, my routines, my failures, (which I love because they have taught me so much), I see my spirituality, my constant prayer and gratitude; my intentional appreciation for the very air I breathe.
These are habits that were birthed from rough moments, and lessons, and have sustained me even through times my body was unable to walk, to lift, to move.
Making a habit of gratitude can shift ones perspective in a positive and encouraging way, which in turn can create drive and passion.
When it comes to business, and even life, I start with a list. Ideas, tasks, kid’s schedules, meals. I keep a small notebook and check off things as I go.
Lists help me feel organized, and help make sure something doesn’t get overlooked.
I love setting goals. I love hitting goals.
What do I want to do, learn, share, or create?
What tools do I need to accomplish this?
When do I want to reach the goal, and interim milestones?
I feel it’s important to set deadlines for myself as a business owner, just like I did for large corporations.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Ever since I can remember, I have been off in nature and in a book. As a little girl, my grandma was always helping others through the use of “old” Medicine. Some of my earliest memories with traditional medicine and healing are helping her help others, and watching them walk away curado, healed.
Naturally, I have been inclined to learn about plants and their properties, and how they work with the human body and mind.
Watching people I love take endless pills that were destroying one bodily function, as a side effect of supporting another, is what fueled my desire to find some way to help, naturally, organically.
As a person who has been diagnosed with things like rheumatoid arthritis and PTSD, depression, and anxiety, I wanted a more traditional and natural approach to healing myself, too.
People didn’t always have an open mind to nature based wellness, so that created a minor challenge.
Perhaps they needed more science backed information, I thought.
I decided to get certified as a Master Herbalist to gain better understanding of plants and how they can be used.
Along the way, I learned, science and prayer make magic when utilized properly and with good intentions.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Anytime I can find an excuse to go for a hike, or get out of the city, that’s where you’ll find me! Parks and trails are perfect and not in short supply, if you don’t want to venture out too far. What to eat? El Toro for “greasy tacos”. Steak, to be exact! Columbine Steakhouse, of course, for a just right steak of your choice at the right price! Both have been consistent since I was a kid!
Check out farmer’s markets to meet new people and get fresh and local foods, for sure.
A day or two up the hill to play tables and slots, and enjoy the restaurants.
Top off the week with a visit to the hot springs for proper relaxation!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It all starts with my Grandma, and her mothers, I am grateful for the knowledge, the wisdom, and the gifts passed on. My husband, who is my biggest supporter since this was all a dream. He doesn’t hesitate to support in any way he can. I appreciate him beyond words!
My mom and sister are always a call away and I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without their guidance, love, and discipline.
Too many friends, and relatives, who have been willing to try something new I’ve made, or even just offer a good vibration.
My fellow creatives and entrepreneurs, who have shared moments of accomplishment, and life, we feed each other; you are appreciated!
I am so grateful to have the support of such beautiful souls – by blood and by choice!
And always, shoutout to Creator for always having my back!
