We had the good fortune of connecting with Lori Abramson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lori, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Thought process behind owning a business? Hmmmm – I love coffee shops! I love what they bring to the community and how they connect people. I wanted to bring something different to the Longmont community with healthy options. We aren’t like any other coffee shop around town. For example, we have a full commercial kitchen and make 95% of everything we sell. We bake our 100% gluten free/dairy free baked goods fresh daily and offer different flavors of them weekly. All of our in-house desserts are vegan as well. Furthermore, we offer a full menu of breakfast items and a few panini type sandwiches and salads for lunchtime. So, if you are looking to get some work done, have a delicious, healthy coffee drink or smoothie and snack, come hang out with us at the Cave.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets Cavegirl Coffeehouse apart from others is our ability to be 100% gluten free! We do not use gluten anywhere in our shop so there is no risk for cross-contamination. For people that have celiac disease, that is very exciting! I am most proud of the ability to be a different animal in this industry. My customers appreciate this level of doing business and clean-eating thinking very much. I’ve been in this business 3 years now with 3 years of coffee business education prior to opening. It has been a lot of hard work but watching the business grow over the past 3 years and change has been extremely rewarding. When I make a plan, I stick to it. I’ve never been afraid of hard work so doing this just feeds my soul.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in Boulder is very exciting. There are always things to do whether it’s hiking, walking along Pearl Street to shop or hanging out at a local cafe/coffee shop just breathing the clean mountain air. I also love Denver. There are a number of things in Denver to see. For example, Cherry Creek Shopping District is well known and fun. The same area has a ton of restaurants and cafes to choose from. Union Station in Denver is also another area I’d bring an out-of-town guest to visit to people watch, explore and just observe the very cool city that it is.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I always will give a shout-out to my Staff. Without the dedication of them, I definitely couldn’t do it alone. There are a lot of moving parts to owning and operating a speciality coffee shop that serves fresh food.
