We had the good fortune of connecting with Luis Ferrer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Luis, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Owning my own business seemed like a pipe dream not that long ago. I’ve had a love for the floral industry since my first day in a family owned shop a decade ago. Through the years I committed myself to learning every facet of my craft and pushing my personal boundaries to continue to grow. There came a point where I was looking around and realized I had to examine what exactly my passion was based in. I’m incredibly grateful to the time I spent in the more mundane sides of this industry but at the end of the day, I really just want to make beautiful works of art. It was then in late 2022 when I decided to hit the ground running. If I couldn’t find what I was looking for elsewhere, I would create the environment I want to be in around me. With the support of my friends and loved ones we’ve moved mountains in the pursuit of something that we simply like to do.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Large scale installations and wearables are where my heart is at right now. It’s incredibly satisfying to create something with your own hands and the nature of this industry allows me to share my art with people at some of the most important points in their lives. The work itself is challenging but that surely plays its role in the pride you take in it when its completed. Every time you work with a new florist you’re going to be heading home with a couple new tips and tricks. Along this journey I’ve learned to appreciate the innovative ways other florists have developed to accomplish the same task and incorporating them into my own playbook. I hope to continue growing in every way and have the opportunities to create some cool stuff!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There definitely a handful of places I think everyone should hit up when they come into town!

To grab drinks:
Adrift on Broadway
Hell or Highwater in LoDo
Death & Co in RiNo

If they’re hungry:
Atomic Cowboy for pizza on Colfax
Taco Selene in Aurora
Sweet Cow for ice cream at the Stanley Market

If I’m being totally honest, if it is my best friend you would probably catch us at Mile High Comics in Sunnyside and The Wizard’s Chest on Broadway.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people to thank it’s almost silly. I have been incredibly fortunate to have all these amazing people that have helped build me up throughout the years! Since the beginning, Greg Pappas at Cypress Gardens Florist has been an amazing mentor that built the foundation I still stand on. My friends Jose, Carmen, Joseph, Hollie, and Sam are always ready to jump head first into whatever project or silly idea we decide to tackle. Lastly, my fiancée Connie is an absolute force of nature. Thank you all for being so supportive and bringing me back down to earth when I start to get ahead of myself!
