We had the good fortune of connecting with Macy Petty and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Macy, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I have studied/played with manifesting for about 6 years. Ive read several books and have taken countless workshops. If you look into manifesting the life you want you will find that almost every doctor, philosopher, manifesting coach etc will speak to taking risk more often than any other action. I learned this tool and started to integrate it in every way I could in my life. I was feeling unfulfilled with my everyday routine. It felt as if I was a robot.
So, I started taking the advice I studied for years and took a few risk. I started small in the beginning to see what I was capable of calling in.
After these small risk set me up financially to move and live a life where I could travel a few times a year I was ready to go for something that was going to take up a lot of space/time and that my heart had a burning desire for.
I reached out to the owner at my local yoga studio about becoming a yoga teacher. I started with my 200hr and afterwards went on to my 500 hr.
At this point in my life, my biggest risk was training to become a yoga teacher while working a full time corporate job as a Design Consultant in Atlanta, Ga.
I fell madly in love with teaching and began teaching as a fun, fulfilling side gig 2-3 times a week.
I began clearing space from the people and things that no longer were in alignment with the lifestyle I was living/ working towards.
5 years later I took the now-to-date biggest risk and going all in with my yoga teaching career. And since, I have moved to a magical mountain area, met the man of my dreams and now facilitate movement in other ways I have only dreamed of.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am where I am today with the help of strong entrepreneurs and saying yes to f*** yes’s and no to everything else. My journey was not the easiest. I was married for 5 years to an incredible human, Bobby. We got married young, I was 19. We had no idea who we were, but we both knew we wanted more out of life. We lived in a small town where I grew up, where you stayed and raised the next generation to come. That did not align with the life we wanted, individually nor together. We moved to Atlanta, Ga and created strong careers for ourselves, moved to Colorado and a couple years later headed down our own individual paths with nothing but love and support for one another.
Covid hit, we divorced, yoga studios closed, and everyone on my team was furloughed. I lived on my own and I ran a showroom on my own while navigating covid.
2020 chewed me up and spit me out, but because of all of this a a few months of living like a zombie I got serious about my healing. I got deeper into my handstand practice, yoga, breathwork and ecstatic dance. I was done living like a soulless piece of flesh. I wanted to face it and feel absolutely everything I was going through. And because of these tools I was able to overcome, push past the uncomfortable and discover new limits. “Feel to heal”
Now, I am here to share it all.
My healing, my love, my energy only to be a reminder to find it in yourself.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would start our journey at Twin lakes, pitch tents, paddle board, and sit around a fire to catch up on life. After a few days of camping by the lake we would start our morning adventure down Independence Pass. First stop, we would stop to visit my good friend, Bob, who owns Percolated Peaks (the two super rad yellow vans sitting on 82 by the gas station) and have the best vanilla lattes, breakfast burrito and snag a few Kombucha’s to go.
Continuing down Independence pass we would stop for a cold plunge in the river, head to sunset park to watch the sunset with our kombuchas and end our night at Aspen Tap with another Kombucha. lol (I’m addicted)
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shout out Bethany Vaughn, my yoga teacher who inspired, mentored and trained me to be the person, student and teacher I am today. Also, Aspen Shakti Yoga studio.
Jayne, the owner, who took me under her wing the moment I moved to the area and has completely trusted me to faciliate/create with her studio in ways I never imagined.
