We had the good fortune of connecting with Maijorie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maijorie, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
There are many important factors behind my own success. I think the most important is having a system. You can be positive and motivated and work 12+ hours every single day, but unless you have some sort of system, you aren’t going to be as successful in any business. I think while building my brand, I have learned that there are many important factors that work together to create success. Another important factor being continually learning and gaining knowledge about your industry every day whether it be through other individuals in your industry, networking events, online videos or even books and classes.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have always wanted to be a business owner. I was 14 years old when I decided this. I have so many creative ideas, the biggest part of my journey now is growing into these ideas to create a brand. Long term, I could sit here all day and go through my plans. I want a complete brand that doesn’t just have one business attached, but multiple businesses. My goal is to be a successful serial-entrepreneur. Currently, I own and am the photographer for Maijorie Photography LLC. It has taken me 6 years to officially call my ‘business’ a legit business. I am finally getting bookings and people coming to me instead of me spending hours hunting clients down. This is a huge accomplishment for myself recently. I have been able to invest in myself as well as my equipment for an overall better quality product which makes me beyond happy. It hasn’t been the easiest journey getting here. The photography industry is incredibly competitive, especially in Colorado. I gave out free sessions for the longest time to gain a portfolio. It has taken me awhile to find my niche. I think I definitely abused the ability to network for a long time, so if there is any advise I could give to ANY business owner, it’s to use the power of networking to your advantage. I also. learned to not sell myself short. I gave a lot of time and effort away for barely anything for a long time and hope I don’t make that mistake again!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Eldorado Springs is one of my favorite areas, especially for photo sessions. Beajus Pizza in Idaho Springs is a must when you are a tourist as well as Tommy Knockers Brewery.
There are beautiful parks in Denver including Washington Park and Chessman Park that make for great picnic days!
Downtown Rino has many bars to hang out and amazing mural art to look at while strolling through the streets.
One of my favorite places in Colorado is in the middle of no where, on a back road on my way to Brighton CO behind DIA (Off of Quincy and i-70). I absolutely love the open scenery and you have a perfect view of the mountains!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
One of my biggest supporters is my husband, Chase. No matter how crazy or how big my ideas and businesses have been, he has always supported the ideas.
