We had the good fortune of connecting with Mandy Mullen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mandy, how does your business help the community?
run.Windsor and FusionFIT pave a way for people of all ages and abilities in our community to focus on their physical health, which in turn provides endless emotional and mental benefits. Our leadership inspires others to do hard things while recognizing that we all have different strengths, challenges, goals and abilities. Our brand is unique in that we are also huge proponents of expanding physical wellness into the community with endurance events, community interaction and actively supporting other small and large businesses.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
run.Windsor and FusionFIT are different from others in the area in that we are fully immersed in the community, and strive to not only operate our own business, but collaborate with and build up other small businesses. I have always been very passionate about community and relied on relationships to help get my businesses started. I realized the importance of these relationships even more as we went through the hardships of 2020. It has been a challenging few years, but found strength in numbers and was determined to not only fight for my businesses but those around me. I joined the Chamber of Commerce as an ambassador, sit on the Board of Directors and am involved in several committees including the Windsor Tourism Commission. I was awarded the Small Business of the Year and Best Gym In Windsor awards in 2020. I attribute this success to my tenacity and involvement in Windsor, both with residents and other business owners.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Windsor is a hidden gem in Colorado!

Day 1)
coffee and a light breakfast at Toast in Windsor, followed by a long bike ride along the Poudre River Trail and finished with a visit to the River Water Experience in Eastman Park.

Day 2)
A homecooked breakfast using produce from Chapman’s Produce, a visit to FusionFIT for a Kickboxing workout, a beer and food truck lunch at Peculier Ales and then paddle boarding at Windsor Lake

Day 3)
An early morning run around Windsor, including challenging hill repeats up CR13 and New Liberty Road. A breakfast burrito to go from The 408 Exchange, then a round of golf at the Pelican Lakes golf course followed by lunch on the patio at Pelican Lakes in Water Valley

Day 4)
A bike ride around Windsor, highlighting the historical buildings and homes, followed by lunch at Teds in Raindance. That evening we would enjoy a live concert in the park at Windsor Lake. Dinner would be at Yuzu, Windsor’s newest restaurant serving fabulous sushi.

Day 5)
Another run but this time through Belmont Ridge Open Space, the only single track dirt trails in Windsor and another hidden gem! Coffee at Windsor Lake Coffee followed by some disc golf at Eastman Park. We would end the day with happy hour on the patio at Hearth in Downtown Windsor, with stops at the Tavern and Cacciatore.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Running several business, volunteering and running ultramarathons doesn’t come without sacrifices in one’s personal life. On top of everything I do, I also have two young boys who have always been under my fulltime care. The only way this is all possible is by the inspiration and support of my husband – who is also an ultra runner and a member of the Colorado Air National Guard full time. Nick has my back and picks up the slack between bedtime, laundry, play time, dishes and more. Nick supports everything I do from helping with races, construction projects at the gym and more! He is the reason I got into running- inspiring me to become a better runner after he ran the Boston Marathon in 2013, at a time I did not enjoy or understand running. This community would not be here without my incredible husband.
