We had the good fortune of connecting with Marcus Becker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marcus, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have a couple of friends that had started their own pop-up business, so I was able to see up close what went into running a business in that manner. One day at my day job I started brainstorming what it would look like if I had started my own. Once the idea was in my head it just took off. I knew I could do t-shirts and stickers if I could just get the appropriate materials.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I was the kid growing up that always had colored pencils and a stack of printer paper, drawing characters from my favorite video games or TV shows. In college I took many drawing and painting classes to further understand how to depict what ideas appeared in my head. It wasn’t until after I got my bachelor’s in history that I realized graphic design was a good fit for me and I attended a community College. I went on to design everything from posters, beer lables, and info graphics. Today I try to create images that come from my inspirations in music, aesthetics, and different historical periods.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I were to show my friend a great time I would take them to Denver. Denver has wonderful places to take in music, architecture, nature, and of course craft beer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my friend Renee at The Crowded Bookshelf in giving me support and encouragement in starting my own pop up style business.
