Meet Marisa Factor | Hair and makeup artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marisa Factor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marisa, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I knew I was good enough to go out on my own and I was tired of contributing to other people’s success versus my own.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a professional hair and makeup artist. I think what sets me apart from others is that I’ve always focused on staying original, staying true to myself, and doing things my own way. I got where I am today by being super driven and motivated to invest in my skills, continue learning and growing, and continuing to stay inspired. Consistently showing up, even on the hard days, and doing my best every day. It has not been easy, and I’ve had to overcome working for and with lots of horrible people and with clients who didn’t appreciate my worth and boundaries and many who jeopardized my health. I overcame these challenges by staying true to myself, listening to my heart and doing right by myself. When my work environment became toxic, I left. When clients mistreated me (this took many years to get to the point where I actually did this) I fired them. I learned how crucial it was to take care of myself first so I could take care of others. I’ve learned that people will always try to take advantage of you and that you cannot let them. I’ve learned to charge my worth for my work, and that time is truly the most valuable thing, way more than money. I want the world to know that my brand is inclusive and nurturing, and we are here to help you feel beautiful!
