We had the good fortune of connecting with Marissa Krugov & Chris Hammelev and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marissa Krugov &, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We started our business knowing we had a gift to share. There is a stigma in the dental field that consultants are stuffy and want to squeeze every client into their cookie-cutter ideal of what a dental practice should be and then keep them in perpetuity, whether they needed consulting or not.

We wanted to change the landscape. We created The Dental Practice Management Agency years ago after 25+ years in the dental field and what we knew is we wanted to be us! From there we set forth to surround ourselves with the best dental entrepreneurs this field had to offer. We now have a mighty team of consultants in our “Wolf Pack”, by our side.

Our team represents every position in the dental field. Within the first six months of client engagement, our department specialists work hand in hand with the dental team to create customized systems.

On any given day, we are laughing, crying, dancing, and most importantly growing alongside of our clients who quickly become family. We encourage our team and clients to be themselves and let their vision lead them to the success they desire.

What should our readers know about your business?

Our business was built with one clear mission: to support the success of dental practice owners. Everything we do is centered around helping practices grow in a sustainable way—not creating long-term dependency on consultants or focusing only on time and money. Our goal is to equip doctors and their teams with the systems, leadership skills, and culture they need so they can confidently run their practices long after our work together is complete.

What truly sets us apart is our commitment to empowering practices rather than keeping them in consulting relationships indefinitely. We don’t believe in keeping our clients in perpetuity. Instead, we guide them through a structured 12-month program designed to build strong foundations in three critical areas: communication, culture, and systems. During that time, we work closely with both the doctor and the team to create lasting improvements that continue to benefit the practice long after the program ends.

Another unique aspect of our work is the way we build customized systems for each practice. Our department trainers work directly with team members to develop custom electronic SOP manuals tailored to the specific workflows of that office. This ensures that every team member has clear expectations, consistent processes, and the tools they need to succeed. When systems are documented and teams are trained properly, practices operate more smoothly, communication improves, and patient experiences become stronger.

Like many businesses, the journey to where we are today was not easy. Building a company that truly serves its clients requires constant learning, refining systems, and staying committed to our purpose. Along the way, we’ve learned that success in dentistry—like any business—comes down to leadership, accountability, and creating the right culture within a team. Challenges taught us to stay adaptable, listen to our clients, and continue improving the ways we support them.

What we are most proud of is the community we’ve built. Many of our clients quickly become like family, and seeing their practices thrive is incredibly rewarding. Watching a team gain confidence, improve communication, and grow into a strong, unified culture is one of the most exciting parts of what we do.

At the end of the day, we want the world to know that our brand is about **empowerment**. We are here to help dental practice owners build practices that are strong, efficient, and fulfilling—not just for today, but for the long term. When our clients succeed, gain clarity in their systems, and create healthy cultures within their teams, that is the true measure of our success.
