We had the good fortune of connecting with Martha Boff and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Martha, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of Oyster Bae is authenticity and clarity. From the very beginning, I have been committed to being genuine in everything I do – from the quality of oysters I source to the way I interact with my customers. This authenticity resonates with people and draws them to me and my brand because they can see and feel the real passion and dedication behind it.

Clarity in our messaging and brand identity ensures that our vibe is consistent and recognizable. People love the unique, relaxed, and fun atmosphere we create, which has been pivotal in building a loyal and enthusiastic customer base. By staying true to who we are, we’ve cultivated a community that truly loves and supports what Oyster Bae stands for.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m incredibly proud of paving my own path as a dietitian. I began my career as a BMT (bone marrow transplant) dietitian, working clinically with patients. While I loved helping my patients, the environment was overwhelming, and I had an aching feeling that it wasn’t the right fit for me. Feeling discouraged, I left that job and took some time to figure out my next steps.

What sets me apart is my unique approach—nobody does what I do the way I do it. This helps me stay focused with a clear vision of my goals without getting distracted by what other people are doing. The journey wasn’t easy. I often struggled with self-doubt, but as I pushed myself and became comfortable with being uncomfortable, my confidence grew, my content improved, and my brand became more refined. And with growing confidence, I started creating opportunities for myself by asking for what I wanted. This mindset led to meeting incredible people and seizing opportunities I never thought possible. The worst they can say is no.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that it’s never too late to make a change. I’m in my thirties and transitioned from being a clinical dietitian to an entrepreneur and oyster shucker. I’ve never been happier. Following your passion and staying true to yourself can lead to incredible opportunities and fulfillment.

There is no one right way to do things. If you want to do something, just start. That’s the hardest part, and you’ll be so happy you did.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love taking the lightrail in Denver. It offers great views of the mountains and has lots of fun stops, like the iconic Buckhorn Exchange for dirty martinis or Union Station, where you can hang out or explore downtown. One of my favorite areas to visit is the RiNo Arts District. The Denver Central Market is always a hit, followed by cocktails at The Block Distilling, a Twan burger at Finn’s Manor, or dinner at Work & Class or Cart-Driver for their clam pizza.

If you’re hitting South Broadway, I love Adelitas for Mexican food, followed by cocktails from their sister bar, Desert Social. I have most of my pop-ups there and let me tell you, it is a VIBE! I don’t drink alcohol and their N/A menu is amazing.

I also enjoy the Botanic Gardens for a stroll and a coffee. Red Rocks is always a must, whether for a concert or just hiking around. Golden is only about 20 minutes away and offers epic views of the foothills and fun breweries to visit. Overall, Denver has a ton to offer, whether you’re interested in day drinking, exploring museums, or enjoying the vibrant arts and food scene.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my husband, Mike. His unwavering support and encouragement have been instrumental in my journey. Whenever I needed a push, he was there, providing the motivation and confidence to keep going. He’s never too busy to hear me out or give constructive feedback on my content. His belief in me and my vision with Oyster Bae has been a cornerstone of my success, and I am incredibly grateful for his love and dedication.
