We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Steffensmeier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anna, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
As a creative person at heart and being someone who loves human interaction, I fell in love with the idea of having flexibility, opportunity for travel, and a constant change of pace that allowed me to cross paths with all people of nature, experiencing new encounters and challenges daily. The idea to start a traveling beauty company occurred to me as I started receiving requests for on location hair and makeup from friends of mine. Owning my own business allows me to offer the kind of service I feel is best conducive to clients, create a bridal team like no other, have freedom to manage my own schedule, make my career what I visioned it to be, and explore new cities as I travel to clients.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My bridal team is dedicated to traveling on-location to brides anywhere and everywhere, although based out of Denver, CO and Greenville, SC. Traveling to mountain towns or beach cities is what we love and are always down for a cross the nation or out of country wedding. Traveling to a salon on the day of a wedding can create un-needed stress and wasted time for a bride so our goal as a traveling beauty team is to bring all the services to the bride and their tribe at their choice of Airbnb, home, or wedding venue. I love to pair my artists with brides as I see fit as well as take any wedding personally that a bride may want me specifically at. My team of makeup artists and hair stylists are truly a team of ladies that bring a sense of professionalism, updated creativity, and a listening ear to each client they encounter. I’m proud of all my artists and the care they show to each other as well as to our brides and am excited for all the new adventures and travels we will experience together as the company grows. Getting to the point of having multiple states we service and a team in those states took time and followed after I built a reputation for Nomadic Beauty, conducted interviews with artist after artist, and I couldn’t be more happy with the ladies that are a part of it now. It was a process to get where I am today, but with determination, goal setting, and following through with my dreams, all of it came to fruition. I’d love for each person to always remember that push forward no matter how many road blocks you hit or how much hard work it may take, it is worth the challenge and it’s so rewarding to pursue a dream and see it come true. I strive to always make each bride heard and personally seen, allowing us to best carry out and catch a glimpse into their vision for their big day.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I cannot say enough good about Denver as a city! It’s everthing and more than I could ever imagine. Whenever I have someone visit Denver my list is literally to the moon and back because I just want them to experience all the amazing things the area has to offer. Let’s start with brunch, because let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good brunch? A.M. Snooze for all the delectable brunch items your hungry tummy could possibly ever imagine or desire, El Five if you’re looking for a great small plate, rooftop, view of Denver experience. If it’s weekends hangs, really anything in the Rino Art district is a win whether you’re looking for breweries, good food, or just a fun photo shoot with all the murals on literally every street and in every ally way. Also another favorite is a walk from downtown across the bridges to the Highlands going through the park as it takes you to Linger for some great food and if you’re craving ice cream, well then Little Man Ice cream is right there to satisfy that. Washpark is a great spot for a run, bike ride, volleyball game, picnic, or any of the go to yard games. Hiking around Red Rocks offers fantastic views of the city without going out of the area too far.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a shoutout to my parents who instilled hard work ethic in me as well as my grandmother who was a stylist herself and who I believe gave me the genes to be a successful stylist.
